Back In The Water Again!........
Hey Folks,
Just purchased a 2001, 312 Fastech, "SUPER CLEAN" with 190 hours! The only problem I'm concerned with is the engines. 7.4(454) MPI's with Bravo One Drives. I know the engines are not performance type that I have had in the past, but more like workhorse engines, 310HP. Alot of room to play with here. The drives have 4 blade 28 pitch props, would like to know if I need to change these out to get a little more punch out of the hole or just leave well enough alone? Any help and suggestions and what to look out for are appreciated. K-Man |
Re: Back In The Water Again!........
I'd only change props if top end was under 4400 rpms or over 5000 rpm. You can usually improve your hole shot by going down in pitch but deep Vs aren't ones noted for getting up quick anyway.

More hole shot may loose top end. I agree with Mopower, but you should be close to 5000 at WOT.

Re: Back In The Water Again!........
I'm selling a 1998 312 with the 502's (415 HP), running 30 pitch props she hits 73-74 GPS on a good day. You must be low 60's on GPS.....Should have bought mine... :D
Anyway, I'm suprised you are spinning 28's. As others have said, what's your max RPM? |

Could have lower gears.
