Do i need to re-engine??
#1
Hey guys,
I wondered if someone could enlighten me as to why people seem to re-engine their boats so often???
I was just curious as my 311-sr1 is still running the original 502 MAGs that were installed in 1991, they have 500hrs on them and the oil pressures are still spot on and compressions are correct.
I guess i would benefit changing to fuel injection motors for fuel economy but i cant really see the point if that's going to cost me $20,000+!!!!.....that's a lot of fuel!!!
Cheers

We all have this sickness called speed. I removed my perfectly good 454/330s with 700 hours. Good oil pressure , compression and leakdown, Used only a quart of oil per season each and replaced them with 625hp/540s.

As mopower said, for more speeeeeed
Personally, I'm still running my original 502's, 763 hours, no problems. Dumped a bunch of money in this year on other things (exhaust, drives, pumps) so it maight be a few years bfore I think about mototrs.

Yeah i guess it's only for more speed but to be honest where i live in the UK my formula is probably one of the quickest boats in the area!!!
It's a different story for you guys cos you're up against some pretty high powered boats!!!
I'd like to re-engine, maybe to some HP500s but i aint got the money so have to stick with the good old 502s!!
Nice one!!
