07 382 Graphics
Sold the Spyder boat, need to re-order for Birminghham Boat Show. Will probrably do a 700 boat. Need opinions,Spyder or Blaze? I realize both designs are kind of a love it or hate it deal. Spyder might get more play in the local media (Spiderman boat is at the show! :drink: )No poll her, just comments. For the record,I would do solid white exterior and interior, but what I like doesn't always sell. :p

Re: 07 382 Graphics
I would go with the Blaze. the spiderman theme is way over done. Of course this is just my opinon.

Re: 07 382 Graphics
on second thought...do you feel it is absolutely a requirement the boat have Platinum paint?
I mean a 382 in the Gold #3 in Bayport or Montego colors (with interior and sunpad colors) would be "just right", classy, and definitely more "hot rod" than "cartoon"... The Blaze is the better choice of the 2, but I'm not big on unilateral one-sided paint designs. I think they screw up the lines of the boat. but hey, what do I know? :D |

Re: 07 382 Graphics
The factory poker-run boat is IMHO the best formula I've ever seen, and with the perfect power. That would definitely be my pick!!! Matter of fact, I would probably talk to you about a Donzi trade if you had that one :drink:

Re: 07 382 Graphics
Gold is beautiful, have a 353 on the way like the brochure 353,but historically, the 382,as the flagship Fastech, needs Platinum. Large majority of 382's are Platinum. High Voltage is great, but last year's design.I go thru this every year, would never question John Adam's genuis, just getting a little tired of all the orange and yellow.I wish John would attend some of the major poker runs and see the new silvers and blues and accents of greens and blacks a nd the new understated colors. In retrospect, maybe I should rethink silver and gold. John Buyer's 382 is silver grahics, and very classy.

classy and "stealthy" especially w/700's a true "gentelman's hot rod" I bet something like that would attract more attention than you think it would Robert. I understand you have concerns it might not appeal to a broad audience...but does "spider"... really? |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
Last year we were close to getting Fastechs with the Sunsport's Flagship graphics, thought it was a great idea,I was ready to order a couple, but it was scuttled at the last minute. Maybe it's time for me to insist that I want a 382 in silver Flagship. I will try that idea next week :drink:

Re: 07 382 Graphics
Jsut went to the Formula website to check out the available options. None of them really catch my eye. A solid color (silver, maybe a blue pinstripe) would look good though.
Of the ones listed I'll pic Gold Imron #2 Montego. The Platinums are either over the top or un-attractive. Remember, Formula's are the "gentlemans" sport boat... :D |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
Exactly :drink:

If Formula would let me order any scheme they ever did it would be Phantom's boat! I'll take it :drink:

Re: 07 382 Graphics
The idea of the Super Sports paint schemes is a good one. The Silver Diamond Pearl looks like it would be cool. Same with the Sapphire Blue Metallic or Bright Red Metallic.
Good Luck Robert |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
I like where this is going...
C'mon Formula. Let me order a 353 Sport in silver or black flagship with a polished w/s frame. Black hullsides w/ all white interior. problem is, with flagship, what to do on the deck of a Fastech...if anything? just paint the "rise" down the middle? or something going forward following the contour of the bowrails? |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
Why not have "One-off's" like other Manufacturer's do? I think it would be a great idea. They could still build their normal production line but give us the option. I would think there would be a market for it.

Re: 07 382 Graphics
Hey,JPorter, are you out there? Your dad was on our side last year at the Bham Show. We just have to convince your uncle. :drink:

Re: 07 382 Graphics
Robert,
Take Uncle out for some pulled pork and a few Corona's and I think you could make it happen :drink: |

Here is a fastech (OSO member CSpray) with Super Sport graphics. I like it! Minus the blue bimini top of course.......
Here is another that is all Sliver. I think I like the super sport graphics better. If you paint the boat silver the dash panels have to match in sliver like this one. |

The vaccuum head is nice and impresses the ladies for sure, but the system sucks down (so to speak) about the ONLY room there is in front of the engines. A porti-potti is fine and serves the same function. :drink: run the couches all the way to the bulkhed. Forget the enclosed head and the cabinet on the other side too. A porti-potti under the front center removable cushion, or better yet under a removable piece aft on either side. with the couches that long... #1 the cabin would feel HUGE #2 there would be room for storage under those couches as they run aft . That would take 4-500 lbs. out of the cabin wouldn't it? Tell me this will bring back the FAIRING! A glass windshield has no place on a basic hot-rod package! Sign me up! |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
you can see it's mounted in the Taylor bottom frame painted white!
how hard is it really to come up with this piece of plastic? I keep getting the effect that for Formula it's like going to Jupiter. C'mon... |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
paint sells lets face it.The Formula paint jobs for the most part are just plain boring with the wrong colors. Why cant they understand that? Its time to expand there horizons a little in the paint dept. The boats are great, bring on the graphics!!!!

pruse these specs. it's mixed bag, but some 9 year old pricing and performance are noteworthy.
Sorry to hi-jack your thread Robert. :o |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
so with a v-berth platform, seat frames, cushions, and headliner ect... (+ lbs.)
and a pleasure sundeck (+lbs.) and fairing... what 81-8200 lbs? 80+ mph on HO's ? 87-88 on 525's ? (no boxes) 90+ with? 600's and boxes would approach 100? which I know the Porter's are not a fan of. So the very same "performance" package thoughout, limited to 2 engine choices HO's or 525's appealing to two distinct $ levels, both seeking the same "effect" if you build it they will come... |

BUT!!.... If you want the boat that makes everyone at your favorite hangout stop and turn their heads you buy the BMW,LEXUS,or BENTLEY class boat like the FORMULA! If I were to spend $300K on a boat it better turn heads when I get where I am going and by the way it is nice to be the last one into the favorite hangout because then you have an audience to show off you ride to! |
Re: 07 382 Graphics
Well said :drink: Probrably a mute point anyway cause Formula will never build a stripped down boat, and I guess you are right, they should leave that to the other guys.So I retract my idea of a stripped down cabin, but am still adament about the Flagship paint :p

Good Luck Robert As far a refridgerators, my boat is 20 years old, and I took the orginal wrapping off the seals for the fridge last year. :drink: |
