Did Formula have a specific reason for doing this change? Quieter/cheaper/better? Are they full time mufflers, or do they "open" like some others?

Seriously doubt there is a problem other than an inexperienced driver Formula went to mufflers because the Silent Thunder lower pan would not fit on boats with boxes and they wanted consistency thruout the line. Corsa mufflers have about the same sound with no added stern weight(water fills the silent thunder)They dont open,it's either thru the props(Capt's Call closed) or thru the mufflers. Formula does not like loud boats and I commend them for that. If you want it loud, replace the mufflers with straight thru tips, your call, but realize you cannot go thru the props at speed because they open automaticaly to eliminate backpressure.

That's not a bad price for an '05 with 600's. I think MajicFloat also has a 382 with 600's. It's an '06 with the Spider graphics. Also has a trailer. May want to check it out. He'l show you how to make a 600 run!

Add says "extension boxes with Captain's Call". That boat should have trimmed up fine and ran up to the requisite RPMs. I think the rest of the guys here are right, the "used to be racer" wasn't racing these kinds of boats.

Boat looks nice. For that kind of cash, I would be test driving it myself.

Unless there is something drastically wrong with those engines, that boat should spin up much better than what you experienced.

The boat is kept at a boat condo type place. You tell them when you want it launched, and they launch it. Also wash, wax, and flush when done. The owner was out of town and had the storage places mechanic give us a ride. We wouldnt have wanted to drive it without the owner there in the first place. He also plugged in his lap top and each engine showed about 3 hours of 5000+ RPM history so its obviously been there. If we end up with this one, we'll be sure to ride with the owner first

Beautiful boat, Congrats.
I've got an 02 with the same interior less genset. My old motors were 800+, new motors should be about 650. (was running 95+ on GPS)
