After several calls, e-mails etc this week, I got off the phone tonight with the MI Formula dealer/owner at 5:15pm. We agreed I'd drive up first thing in the morning to buy the 2002 353 we had been discussing. Wife & I were way excited!

He calls me back tonight at 7:15pm & sezs, sorry but he just took a deposit on it.

Something doesn't smell right & I'm pissed/bummed.

Anyone know of 2000-2004ish fresh water 353's out there besides the what's on the board?

The best super clean boat I know of at the moment is a 38' Fountain and you don't want me to do that!

That is pretty $hitty. I would be pi$$ed about that.

I guy near me has a 99 353 with fresh 502 mags for sale. I've been on the boat but it's been awhile. (It was kept in good shape then). I spoke with him a few weeks ago and he said he had bought a big cruiser and wanted to sell the 353 if I knew anyone interested.
If you need more info I'll get his number for you.

BL,
Just for kicks, Which Formula Dealer in MI were you working with?

2biguns 04-12-2007 09:34 PM

Call Robert.

You'll be guaranteed a fresh water boat and a dealer who will stand behind what he sells. Now's a great time to visit the great state of Alabama and Robert can demo whatever he has in stock on one of the most beautiful lakes in the Southeast. Fly in, buy a boat, eat a plate of great southern BBQ, fly home and a couple of days later you're have the delivery truck in your driveway with your dream boat.

I was wondering the same thing, too. Pretty shady. Not somebody I will do business with! Besides, I already found the best Formula dealer ... go see Robert!

That sucks but remember EVERYTHING happens for a reason. There is a better boat out there for you!!!

BL6 04-13-2007 07:23 AM

I rec'd several private e-mails last evening that shared poor experiances with this particular dealer. It sounds like I may be fortunate the deal fell apart.

Well it's a new day! Lot's of boats out there. And I will be on the water in a month or so. Still thinking it will probally be a Formula 353.

That's crap. You really should let us know which dealer it was. I'm looking for my next boat and I don't need that kind of aggravation.

axapowell 04-13-2007 11:16 PM

I bet I can guess which one....

You are better off without that boat anyways!

let me guess sun sport marine

BL6 04-14-2007 10:03 AM

actually, not. I suppose sooner or later all dealers tork off somebody.

I believe Formula's integrity is higher than most and in general they support dealers who are also.

I normally take people at their word. But I gotta remember, when talking boats to be a little cautious.

If its not Sun Sport Marine, then there is only one other Formula Dealer in the SE Michigan area (I think).

I bought my boat from Sun Sp. Marine and they were really good to work with. I was around the 1st or 2nd boat they sold, so there were some learning lessons for both of us, but overall I am really happy with both Formula and S.S. Marine.

There is one other dealer in MI I will let BL say the name if he wants to. I have not had any experience with them so i would not be able to say any good or bad about them. They took over the franchise from Keenan Marine in GH i believe.
