Put-In-Bay

Wondering if any Formula owners are in the area of Sandusky and Put in Bay?

Thirdbird and myself (and other's if they want) are planning a trip to Ohio around the 20th of July.

Where to dock and what do we HAVE to see? Any input would be helpful, and maybe we can meet some OSO'rs.

Respectfully,

AXA and Bird

So will we!!!!

It was a best of 97 so far, hopefully with some tuning it will go 100, he is trying to make it run fast but not on the edge of destruction! 7 lb pulleys would do it easily but like I said, trying to keep it together, he is known for having a fast reliable boat, that is hard with big power!

Axapowell - Check out the LEOPA section. RJC, Scott and the whole gang are very friendly and helpful. They treated us like royalty when we visited in August 2005. Things to do/see include hanging out at the Casino on the south side of Kelleys Island (and the Brandy Alexanders across the street!), exploring Sandusky Bay and Cedar Point Park (big-time rides!), exploring the other islands, including the winery on Pelee Island (Canada - do the Customs thing correctly!), and the usual Put-In Bay (South Bass Island) tourist stuff. Have fun!

slivings 05-02-2007 07:34 AM

Hmmm....isn't Cedar Point amusement park out there? Maybe I could pull off a family trip with something to entice the kids and my wife.:D

Between Cedar Point, Put-in-Bay, Kelleys, and maybe a trip to Pelee Island in Canada you can make a nice vacation of it.

My summer home is in that area we spend all alot of time on the islands!

always remember, when going to the round bar...freinds do NOT let friends wear buckets!!!!

axapowell 05-03-2007 01:14 PM

How about dockage right at Cedar Point amusment park?

How far is it from PIB?

Nice Place?

Thanks,
Dave and Dave

kjm5125 05-03-2007 02:49 PM

Yes, there is dockage, gas and restaurants at Cedar Point. You have to access the entrance from Sandusky Bay. It has been a few years since I docked there and back then it was fine.

phragle 05-03-2007 02:55 PM

cedar point has a marina, so you can boat there.., you can see it from kellys so its not that far.. cedar point hs a website with all the info..dont ask me what it is though.. cedar point also has a large waterpark too.

Dave,

My brother Joe and his wife have their boat at Cedar Point Marina and can give you info on dock reservations, etc. It is very nice and just a stone's throw from P-I-B. PM me for his number if you want. OSO member Scott also keeps his 38 Powerquest on a hydrohoist there. I would be happy to meet up with you guys, but I might be doing the Chicago Poker Run that same weekend with Dukenrock.

Downtown Toledo also has several restruants/bars along the water if you feel like making the run 28 mile run to the Western Basin. Let someone local know if you do ... you need to stay in the channel as there are shallows to avoid. Toledo OSO contingency includes Glass Dave, Tizbad, MadCow, RWS, packinair, phragle, FundRazor and myself among many others.

Chris

Also try putting a thread up in the LEOPA section and you will get plenty of advice and info from the gang.

Theres two good marinas at Cedar Point. We've slept on the boat at the castawaybay marina and it was very great. Not too expensive. Nice clean showers, gas, electric, and walking distance to Fridays.

There are hotels on PIB but most require a 3 day stay in the summer. You can sleep on the boat and there are public showers available .... so which ever you like to do

Definitely hook up with RHC. We consider him the mayor of Kelleys Island .... :D

If RG3 shows up I'd be enticed to buy a boat and possibly show up. Work the issue Axa........

Sure did ! We were on "A" dock, rafted off the inside of the main walkway that also is the seawall. We got there Thursday evening and it was pretty full so plan to arrive early.

"B" Dock is where you want to be. Most protected and the biggest party.
