I'll call you Wednesday on my way up, either way!

Thanks again,
Dave

TTT with this thread and an update.

I have had no heat related amp issues. It gets pretty warm in that closet, but not hot thanks to the vents I'm sure.

I have had one no start on the port side, but I had been drawing on that battery and not running very far (or on the charger in the slip) for a couple days.
started plugging-in a little more often. Especially when I know I'm drawing that battery down with tunes and short trips.

Dave, you gotta "guy" down that way who can cut me a new dash panel? Out of a similar material (aluminum)?

thanks to Bernie I have a template! So I don't have to de-rig my present set-up to put something new together. I can take my time.

big screen chartplotter (one of the 16:9 panoramic screen offerings would be a nice fit geometrically and asthetically) flushmounted front and center and guage re-arrangement either side of it, may even go Smartcraft?

I'd like to get the panel cut for size, do a layout on it then send it back to get cut out (laser?)

then it'll probably have to go on hold as I convert the trailer to Kodiak discs, only so much coin to go around!

any ideas?

if i don't go Smartcraft, I think I can get a good size unit centered high, run the 6 small guages in a row down low and a tach on either side.

Dave,

If you got a guy for this, get one cut for me too. Need to get rid of the B&W 182 . Not sure of the exact layout but doesn't make sense to cut one if Rip has the template. Gotta do something cool to set off the new Issotta......

I would assume you could order new dash panel from factory. What do you know about smartcraft? Simple plug in to your 496? Cost?

axapowell 01-21-2008 09:42 PM

Sure I "Gotta a Guy" and if We order more than one, well the cost won't be that bad. Let me know! I will need your extra panel and the cutouts you would want!

yea...for some healthy coin.

The panels are vended out and they come cut from them for Formula's pre-determined dash layouts.

I have scored an empty, but cutout for guages panel to use as a template for blanks for a reasonable price from a member here.

So, if I can get them reproduced as a cut to size blank, who wants one?

Smartcraft plug and play.

I see myself approaching this in two stages.

also, the stock ones are hardened, or not straight aluminum, they are pretty hard. I know I've cut/sawed holes in one.

I'm in, and agree it's a two stage process. Unfortunately I don't believe smartcraft is plug and play with 500EFIs, if I'm wrong let me know. I'd almost consider a livorsi Datatach to save alot of panel space to get a bigger plotter in the panel.
