Rip...

Good to catch up with you yesterday via phone. Thanks for the input on the breaker re-location and the carpet padding!

These are both a MUST DO on these boats! I cannot believe the additional storage space removing that panel makes. That will come in handy anytime! I may consider that carpet upgrade as well!

I got the TV installed and ran all the wires yesterday (PIA to run those wires!), including a cable wire to the "trunk" with a Marinco water proof cable input. Going from the TV to the back of the boat took NO time at all. Going from the TV to the breaker panel and the stereo was a LOOOONG process, but it may be I was just to careful about how I wanted to run them.

Only a few more things and I should be ready to splash the week before Memorial Day.

Thanks again Rip!!

Dave

today's doin's...

2nd harness ready to go in

wires are all run/secured except for starboard tweeters.
The back of the seat panel has the clamps in place across the top on the back, all holes are drilled and hardware is on hand for thru-bolting the seat front panel in eleven places.
Plus 2 screws a side as mentioned, under the 6.5"s

waiting on the Alpine amp that's going on the stern wall of the closet. Waiting to mock up mounting before I drill and grommet the hole in the ceiling panel for wire drop, and finish the wires. Also need to drill and grommet one more hole above the other amps for a patch cable return from the Alpine to the cockpit 529S

Alpine end unfinished. They will drop thru the ceiling like the other side. The existing holes are where the fire ex was mounted. I should be able to use at least one of them.

The other side is finished. I went back and ran 12ga OFC right from the amp for the subs.

I would have dropped all the stock wiring for the 529's down too but they came down thru in the back and I didn't feel like modifying the stock wiring. Those amps were mounted down on the front fridge wall.
The wiring for the 529's will tidy up some with some ties and flex-loom.

battery end DONE ready to hook-up.

I had to cut the corner off the battery door to clear the fuse holder. I didn't want them in the battery well and needed to keep them up high because I stow anchors in either corner. (I have a piece of thick egg-crate foam I put down in this compartment).

On second thought I should have just put them on the back wall above beside the battery switches. Oh well!

EDIT: That wouldn't have done me any good because the door is a tight fit along the back and the inside edge, no gap to drop wires to the battery like there is on the outside. Plus I would've had to support the wires on the way around.

Speaking of anchors, they were warping the battery doors as the latch catch is the only support. Not anymore! Notice the angle bracket I had in my angle bracket assortment that now support both doors on the other side from the latch.

I carry one 15 lb. navy w/ 5' of 5/16" chain on it and 100' line. The other that I rarely need here (unless I'm overnighting and want security over and above or fore and aft out) is a 20 lb. navy with 6' of 3/8" chain and 100' of line. Some serious holding power aboard. A navy with chain works on virtually any bottom. Chain being the key to keeping the fluke down. Chain increases holding power exponentially.

The mess...

These are the vents I use in these plastic doors. Holes are big enough for 8's but I use #6 screw to keep a cleaner appearance.

This door is getting a vent top and bottom center in the morning.

Kicker makes some grills, but they are a bunch of points coming to an open center....and $20 apiece!

No good.

Good old fashioned HD waffle grills in a boat thank you. Excellent protection, bit not stifling to air movement.

I ordered 8" grills right? Well they are packaged 8", but would just cover a 6.5" driver! Must be they are sold by the actual dia of the grill, not the driver size they cover!

Not a problem though
they sit just right on the Kicker frame to catch them through at least a partial mesh-hole through the rubber at 4 spots with a longer oval headed screw with an upholstery washer. Looks pretty good actually. I only had a couple of the scews I needed (16...4 each of the 8 sub screws to hold the grill on)

I had the #8 SS upholstery washers in my collection though!

and patch cables, Y-adapters are here.
