new to me 336 !!!!
well, after 3 years of window shopping, adn sellign my 272 last october, I have upgraded to a 336.
I looked for 3 years, at nothing but other formulas. my quote under my logon is "looking for mint formula, cheap, and i hit my goal it is a 1995 ( upgreaded notched transom) with the rare 525SC package. thsi boat was the brochure boat for formula, and I understand was featured in powerboat magazine. I need to get that article it was the first, and one of only 5 336's with the 525sc I need to use my buddy waterfoul's logon to post pics. so here they come Rambunctious |

You guys with 525SCs and clones are killing me! I just might have to re-think my desire to go MPI... |
NICE!!!!!!!!!!! any interior pics??
What kind of speeds with that setup?? congrats PJ |
thanks
not the swim platform but the transom has a 8" x 8" notch for cleaner water to the props ( kinda like extension boxes) supposedly gained 2-3 mph more pics to come . I am literally leaving not to drop it in lake michigan unusually 87 degree day here. but water is 52 degrees should do mid 70's ( that's without steps):D can't wait any longer.. gotta go Ramb |
Great looking boat! You'll love the 525's, tons o' torque!
|
cool Ram BTW i copied your " Thru Thunder" on my 272 this week gonna fire tomorrow.:D
|
Sweet boat. I might still have that Powerboat around somewhere. If so I'll make some copies of the test and send to you. If I remember right powerboat got 85 mph!!! Same speed as a 35 Fountain with the same power in the same issue. I spent years after that hoping to win the lotto so I could buy one just like it.
|
Now that's a really nice older Formula. Congrats. A lesson learned. Patience pays off in the end. :D
|
Congrats, She`s a great looking boat, time to make a new vid with foul:D

I remember the article said that one of the Porter's was gonna keep and run the test boat, it was #1 w/525SC's |
congrats...beautiful boat :D
what props are you running? let me know some numbers as I am going to start prop testing next week. I am still running stock 3blade mirage 23s. I get about 5300rpm/ 80mph with 1.50 bravo 1x's |
so
tweakinit did you buy your boat out of tennesee? if not, then you are 4th of 5 525sc's 1 mine 2 havasu 3 tennessee 4 tweakinit?? 5 ?? I have 24 pitch bravos with 1.36 ratio drives on my maiden voyage last night I hit 72 last night at 5000 for a short blast. sticky fresh water and 1/2 tank. the prev owner had the props labbed ( by mercury racing) but said it didn't help. ( maybe they ptiched down a ltitle?) . it cruises (out of teh 4 barrels) at 50 mph at 3200-3400 Once i get used to this thing. i might look into relabbing them for a little more pitch. we'll see. But I am very happy as is. thing rides so smooth, planes off easier than my 272. spins the props out a touch at 2500rpm and then hooks up ( kinda like surface drives) with very little bow rise. I like it rides VERY level too. the bow is really low. and the k planes can bury the bow in a heartbeat if needed. yes MASI, it's time for a new video. just need to decide on the background music. will it be Motley crue again, or nickelback this time:D Ramb |

you're in grand rapids? I'm in holland. let me know if you need advice on the thru thunder. unless it's done already. tweakin are you sure on the 80mpg. :D what pitch were those bravos. 28 i have 24 4 blades, but with 1.36 ratio Ramb |
tweakin
I stand corrected. I looked at a couple post of yours and see you are at 565 Hp each. so the 80mph makes sence now:D COOL!! are the 525's original in your boat, or installed at a later date? some color differences in the engines compared to mine and are you really selling it? Ramb |

I know its not stand up room but I heard it's better than a 311 .....m |

I reviewed this boat in great detail yesterday and it is one nice ride. The engines look brand new. There is something about shiny blue paint!!:D
I was thinking you would run faster than 70 but the lake was flat last night. Looking forward to some performance trials! BTW I am available to shoot another video. |

Nice formula.....looks real good for a 95'
You going to take the ST box off? |
venomuous.
i ran it up to 72 and then backed off to a nice 50 mph cruise at 3200 rpm the previous owner ran it for a while with the platform off, but said it was very quite loud. could not talk in the cockpit he put the platform back on two years later and the first time out, his wife slugged him in the shoulder, saying " It could have been this quiet all along !!!!" with the silent thunder, he had it measured at 91dB with it off, who knows. so. we'll see. maybe for our local poker run i will take it off for fun and then reinstall after.... Ramb |
Very nice 336.........:D

That is what i did. RAM did this on his 272 and i copyed HIS design:drink: |
Ramb,
my 336 is out of canada from Double R perf. As soon as I got back home, I had the original 525s rebuilt by Innovation; that is when I had them completely "blued". It came with an eagle trailer almost exactly like yours, but with salt water, I had to get an aluminum trailer. I thought about selling because I have had the boat for almost a year, and most of that time I have been fooling with other stuff and haven't been able to take her out. Now that I been out every weekend for the past two months, she'll be with me for a while (i think). 336s are incredible boats, lotsa power, great ride, strong hull.....Formula name says it. I'm glad you are happy with yours. And it looks extremely clean. those 525s should last you a long time if you take care of them. Your welcome to call me anytime 850-259-8300 and talk boats. Like I said, Im gonna try some other props from Julie at throttle up and see what happens. Mike, thanks for the offer...I might have to take you up on that. JFFPR sounds like great fun. I almost bought a 311, so I know them well. The headroom in the 336 is a few inches higher, but to me the 311 felt longer in the water...??? so whatyado -Jon |
oh yea, and I took off the ST box. I ran the boat with, and now without...I really don't think there is that much difference.
(but that may be why my hearing is going...:evilb: ) |

I need your email / phone again. can't find it I need to speak to a man about a truck :D Ramb |
Man, that sure is a clean boat! Those engines look fantastic!
|
Great looking boat. I didn't know they have even more head room than a 311, which already has more than most offshores.
There's a 336 with the ST removed in the same marina I keep my boat at. I was behind it at the gas dock one weekend and I was deaf for the rest of the day. |
Real nice 336.......lots of headroom....hard to find ! CONGRATS!:drink:
