311 Kaama Must Go

The time has come, I need more cockpit space, my 1987 311 has to go. Any feedback on what its worth, I don't want to give it away but I'm being realistic. For the right price I also have spare drives.

Rambunctious 06-11-2007 02:42 PM

need details on condition, engines, rebuild hsitory, trailer, etc.

311's are selling in the 30's with trailer in midwest. friend has one mint but high(er) hours with new trailer for 38k , had 35k offer

the kaamas will mean something to some people, and risk to others that don't know about them ( i think they are cool)

hope this helps some

More cockpit space than a 311? You're going to have to look and cruisers to satisfy that requirement. The 311's have some of the largest cockpits of any boats in that size range.

To answer your question, to move the boat it's going to have to likely be in the high 20's. I've seen several for sale sit for months at low to mid 30's

Thanks for the input, I guess I would let it go for the high 20's to low 30's. I hate to, its been a great boat.
I've got three kids, so my family fills the thing up and I love to entertain with other people.

handfulz28 06-12-2007 12:59 PM

Wow, 311 with Kaamas...you really would be giving it away for that price point...specially if it's really clean. Share more pics!!! And specs...where is it?
Just a sidebar observation, but the underside of that ST platform is different than mine. Mine is flat on the underside where yours has some extra material/internal space?

WOW! wish I needed another boat!
Take my '78 233 on trade! LOL just kidding :D

Downside is you can't ski behind it without SCUBA gear!

Keytime i am flying out on the 18th to look at it. The owner has been very busy and so have I. I will report back after my trip:D

RiverRat311 08-03-2007 07:05 PM

Cuda

If the next owner of the boat is not interested in the drives I will be interested in selling them, or possibly parting them out. I also have your style transom plates.

BOATMAN302 08-08-2007 03:02 PM

any luck selling your boat. if not i am interested. I will go see it, i see you are in new york. I currently have a 302 w/ kaamas Bruce 5197912790.

Forgot the dayum camara and left the GPS in the truck at the launch ramp when we went for the sea trial.:angry-smiley-044: :stupid: :blaster: I can't believe i did that.

oK ok :D The boat ran great! Brian the owner was very nice and explained the procedure very well on how to power it up and drive it. Powered up to 4200 and all of the sudden it hooks and the next thing ya know your on plane. It is so wierd to feel a boat do that. Brian showed me how the boat reacts to tab and trim. You can trim up to the moon and the boat really does not react alot it just shoots a bigger rooster:party-smiley-048: Now it is VERY tab reactive. It does not need alot at all you can adjust the bow to right where you want it:D It is SO hard to compare in fact you cannot compare this boat with a sterndrive. It is going to take alot to get used to.

Perfectmix 08-21-2007 06:06 AM

Jeremy, got your message late last night, sounds like things went well with the 311.

alj 08-21-2007 11:21 AM

Jeremy,
Welcome to the Formula/Kaama club! That boat is gorgeous. I've spoken with the river rat a number of times. That one has some very unusual transom housings on it. Probably one of the last Kaamas produced. Be sure to get the extra drives and parts with it. Now that its a little closer to home maybe I'll have a chance to see that boat in person. Getting used to it will be easy, as long as you aren't much of a water skier.

ALJ- I have not bought it yet.......... pending survey:D ................. As far as the extra drives i told Brian i would not be interested in them. Main reason is they are the different syle and i don"t think they would bolt up if the boat ever had a problem.

alj 08-22-2007 10:21 AM

Everything should be the exact same except the transom mounts (housings). I would buy at least one side for spares and I think the river rat has two complete sets including rams etc. Having backup rams alone is worth it. Important parts (beyond belief) are drive cases, transmissions, transom assemblies, BOOTS,and rams. Ask Josh (perfectmix) about this. With that last post, the river rat will be buried in inquiries for those parts and they will be gone. Contact me by PM or talk to Josh about the value of that spare setup. I'm sure Brian will help you if you are buying his boat.

Waiting??????????

vrodn 08-23-2007 01:39 PM

You get no bow lift with surfacing drive, that's why when you trim it up all that happens is the spray gets bigger. How fast does she run with the limited bow lift of the surface drives?

vrodn- My wife is from Bay City i always wanted to take our 272 up there and run it. Any way i forgot the dayum GPS in the truck at the launch ramp:angry-smiley-044: Formula said in 1987 that a 311 with the 377 hp motors and surface drives would run 68 so i'm guessing this rig should run that.

BOATMAN302 08-24-2007 07:16 AM

When You Look Over The Back Of The Boat You Can See The Complete Nut On The Prop Shaft, That Means Over Half Of The Prop Is Out Of The Water, throughing Water. It Does Make A Difference Whether You Spin In Or Out. Surface Drives Also Like Large Diameter Props. I Spin 18x30 With 8%over Drive. I Get Plenty Of Bow Lift With The Larger Wheels, Tabs Are Always At 0 Or Higher Bm302

BOATMAN302 08-24-2007 12:30 PM
