Hi Mike,

Did you have the 23s cut down from 24s or were they orginally 23s? Why are you not using them?

The 23's came with the Boat ... I am almost Positive they are stock 23's. I can check. I spun a hub on one of them the 3rd or 4th time out ... I had new hubs installed and the Blades tuned up and never put them Back on ....Went to the Hrdromotives. I like the Hrdromotives but really cant give a good comparison .....m

Hey guys, i checked my speed this weekend. GPS'd at 68.3 mph with flat water, kinda hot and humid also. My boat currently is running 23 pitch mirage props, i think they are original. It is powered by 420's with trs drives. I ran that speed at 5200 rpm, the motors are fresh. I'm just wondering if i should try some 25's, if so....mirage's, mirage plus, cleavers???? Any advice would be appreciated

Hey Tyler,
It's funny you are posting this.... I did the same with 23 pitch mirages that have been labbed. I have 330's with bravos. I was getting WOT 63.4 mph on GPS @ 4750rpm with about a foot of chop.
I decided to take all the advice I got from you guys and borrowed a set of 24 pitch bravos .... awesome .....
Coming out of the hole it shot like a frieght train because of the traction. WOT 61.2 mph on GPS @ 4450 rpm slower on the top end because I ran out of rpms .... but ..... Where these really shine is the mid range I picked up consistantly 5mph at most rpms for example before i was getting 34-35 mph @ 3000 rpm , 37-38 mph @ 3200 rpm, 40-41 mph @ 3400rpm, and 50 mph @ 4000 rpm
Now ..... I am seeing 40-41 mph @ 3000 rpm , 43 -44 mph @ 3200 rpm , 45-46 mph @ 3400 rpm and 55 mph @ 4000 rpm.
The only complaint if I was have one .... Is the bow lifts a lot with these props so you need serious amount of tabs because of the porposing.
You loose rpms at the top end like everyone said, but you gain cruising speed at lower rpms = better fuel economy and less wear on the boat etc.
I am looking forward to the props i just bought from "Moeron" (set of 24 pitch Hydros) these are a taillifting prop as opposed to a bow lifting prop like the bravos are.
I think they will be the winner .....
You will see greater speeds and rpms than me because of the horsepower difference.
It all comes down what you are looking for I guess. According to this thread and the "props" section the 23 pitch mirages will be the "fastest" with highest rpms but you will also get the most slip and not as good mid range....
That's my two cents for whatever it's worth.
Goodluck .....

Jeff

do you guys think a little trim tab helps lift the stern. my 68.3 mph happened with tabs parallel with bottom of boat(i set them there with a straight edge before i hit the lake). keep in mind i have trs with 1.5 ratio, throttle up says 10% slip is where i am at with the 23 mirage's. julie says don't change. according to her the mirage's should be between 11%-15% slip with my app. wonder what a set of 25 labbed mirages would do, too bad they don't make these props anymore

They made tons of Mirages, you can probably find a set in the swap shop.

From what I've been told, TRS like RPMs instead of loading them up with higher pitch. 5200 RPMs is fine.

For top speed on flat water keep the tabs up. Tab down= drag
