what are your drive and tabs set at for this??

Running full speed I have the K-planes all the way up, so no difference in speed. Now in rough water I can definitely run faster and in more control compared to the old Bennett's!:D

2004 292 w/6.2's. Not sure how fast this thing will go. I've seen 69 on GPS once and 66-68 several times in various conditions. Does anyone else start chine walking at these speeds? I usually have family or guests aboard and chicken out. I have noticed that the chine walking is especially notable if there is any wind at all.

Highest speeds have been with tabs up and drives just under full trim. I'm sure the tabs would help but they scrub speed too. I guess I'm disappointed that she walks so easily with relatively mild power.

I had some chine walk when I first purchased it, it is my first stepped hull and generally happened when the drives were trimmed too far out. Now that I've gotten used to it, at top end the drives will be trimmed about neutral, and the tabs about 15 degrees negative, so tabs aren't adding any significant drag. This seems to stop the walk before it is noticeable enough to make any passengers nervous.

What makes them nervous is when I launch it at 70 :evilb:

Yeah. Find out what their drinking and buy some. All kidding aside, they are probably reading their overly optimistic speedo's.

Labbed 28 pitch 4-blade Bravo's. This was in absolute BEST conditions (although had 3/4 tank of fuel). 60°F dry air and 1 foot chop with a tail wind. Prop slip calculates out to 11%!:D. 69-70 mph is more realistic during normal conditions.

As rhsj2006, you want to run neutral trim. Overtrimming can cause chine walk and loss of speed.

Mine will chine walk but only above 65 and heading south with a west wind (waves horizontal to boat) 292s like neutral trim and as little tab as possible.There is a way to saftely get out of a chine walk but I am not qualified to describe in text.You can get hurt if not done correctly.
I was fortunate to spend some on water time with someone who raced for years and he taught me a lot you I this is your first performance boat I would suggest the same or take Tres class. Wear your Kill switches and vest

Glad to know that mine is not the only one that dances. I grew up running Dad's bass boats. 65mph - 80mph in a 16ft - 21ft rig is flying and they danced quite a bit. You are correct, it can be tricky to drive out of a hard chine walk. Guess I just did not expect it in relatively calm conditions from my 292.
