Any ideas for selling a 357SR1?

I've tried selling my boat with no luck. It's an 86. Just replaced the engines with 454 remans. It's on a 2003 fatsload tripple axle trailer. I've listed it here (classifieds), boattrader, craigslist, and local papers. Not a bite. Is it just that nobody wants these any more?

I had a hell of a time selling my 40FT Excalibur Hawk. It was in "fair" shape, pair of 425's and had a trailer. Tired ebay a zillion times over a year, ended up selling it on craigslist to a local guy. Mine was a 1982, which scares a lot of people off. I only got 20g for mine, and it was turn key. I think the net is sometimes good, but sometimes bad, because people have a lot to choose from on the net. There doesnt seem to be a lot of people interested in these older wave crushers, unless they can be had for a song. How about a for sale sign on the side of the road? You would be surprised what that will bring.

Maybe the for sale sign might work. I'll have to wait for spring for that since it all covered and stored away.
I don't remember the exact price I listed it for but it was in that range, 38 0r 39. The repairs were over 30 so I didn't think the price was too much.

Thats what kind of sucks with boats. Repowering them is very expensive, and even with new engines, it really most of the time does nothing to increase value, just makes the sale easier. For instance, a 1988 357 may be worth 40g in great shape, with a pair of 425's with 300 hours. A 1988 357 with freshly rebuilt 425's, rebuilt trannies, and rebuilt drives in great shape is probably worth, guess what, 40g. Its just that the 357 with fresh power will sell easier, with all other things being equal.

engine and trany rebuilds are basic maintenance, it just makes a boat more appealing over another. unfortunaltely if you want to sell you will have to wait for either the economy to pic up or, and gas prices to lower. So the type of boater who can afford the boat can aldo afford gas. or sell it at what ever the market will bear. You may have to drop your pants to get rid of it, or trade it !

The market sucks for selling, great for a buyer.
I have been seeing the same boats for sale for 2 yrs now, I have a friend selling a 88 311 that runs 75MPH on gps with 500's, Imco exhaust, MSD, engines are fresh, hydraulic steering, new interior, all new Gaffrig gauges, great shape. Started at 36,000 and is down to 24,000 with no bites lately, most boats asking for 30,000 does not have what his has.
I bought my 32 foot Baja with 400's and a trailer for 13,000, that was a deal, older bots just don't pull any money.
