353 Pricing
I am going to be listing my dads 2002 353 soon & was wondering what it is worth. I tried looking in the classifieds but the pricing is all over the place. I was hoping someone might now what they have been SELLING for. Thanks in advance for any help.
2002 353 Fastech (immaculate boat looks brand new) 496hos electric bolsters & foot rests kenwood cd player w/ remote alum trailer battery charger refridgerator vacuum head (never used) 4 blade ss props 290 hrs. freshwater use cockpit cover & full boat cover |
I'd say around $100-$110k would be fair, if it's is nice as you say. Salt water?

Dave Axa, I know the boat a little (it's kept 1/4 mile from our place on the river anyway). Probably occasional trips into salt but I'm sure primarily fresh. I think it will need to be below $100K. Upper 90's just seems so much less to a buyer. Breaking that 100K threshold will be tough. |
Earlier this year I was looking at an anally maintained '02 w/496s, I'd have gone 118k at the time. This was a fresh water boat owned by a personal friend. Not sure what the hours were. This time of year people are lookin' for the deal, my .02, around 95-100k depending on condition.

It also has very low hours. Just another comparison ... I realize yours is newer and 353. but something to think about. Good Luck !!! Jeff |
Thanks for the responses. Our house is on fresh water so it gets run in salt once we get towards the bay, but always runs back in fresh before it gets put on boat lift.
I will be getting w/ him to see what he wants to do, he may want to wait closer to spring. Then comes the joy of talking to tire kickers & listening to the two infamous phrases "whats the lowest you will take" & "The bank will only give me ( insert ridiculous low price) will you take that" |
bottom line is if its priced right it will sell
|
If you go to this site you will see a fairly good comparison with regards to your dad's boat. This is a '03 with same options and low hours.

Thanks for the comps. It's hard to try & come up w/ a fair price where both parties walk away satisfied. It would be nice to get top dollar, but it doesn't always work that way. Thanks for the help & I will let you guys know when we put it on the market.

lets not forget about the cost of fuel, IT'S SKYROCETING and thats going to play a role in a lot of twin heavy boats.

Guess I'm gonna have to take "drifting lessons" next year.....If ya got over 100k to put into a boat, a few K in fuel really shouldn't be an issue.
I think I know someone who can bring you up to speed on the finer points of "drifting". You may however need to up your ILD rating on the v-birth pad to get the full effect. I do agree on the fuel comment, it's all relevant. We are being ripped here in good old New York, Sunday in the heart of the waterfront district in Salem MA. we filled up at $2.64 a gallon vs. $3.09 that morning here in N.Y. That's why I looking for a "fuel efficient" big block powered 90+ MPH 35' - 38' hot rod boat. |
There was a 1999 on ebay and a 2001 on ebay, the 1999 did not sell and it was bid up to 6?,???.00 and the 2001 did sell for $73,000.00 just a little fyi

Thanks, but I think he will keep it before letting it go under 90. His biggest reason for selling is downsizing & less maintenance.

we've seen 75 w/ 1/2 tank gas, 4 people on board & all the items carried along for a day trip.
I think somewhere @ 78 is the best the boat has ever seen. Boat is still for sale if anyone is interested just pm me or give me an email address to send pics to. |
353 w/ 496's. One day this fall when stars and moon aligned, the wind was at my back and lake had nice small chop, I hit 74.5 mph on gps. :D Most every other day it's 71-72ish
