I don't think Thunderbird/Formula was ever on 188th. Their plant was on 141st just west of Biscayne Blvd/US1. Nowadays that facility has been divided up into multiple bays/businesses, at least a couple of which are "offshore" related.
Sidebar story: some friends of mine used to rent out the eastern-most area for a marine store and warehouse space. They let me use some space to store and work on my race car. While a lot of the space had been "built out" for store front & warehouse use, other areas were still original. A little surreal, a little eery, gave me the chills to walk around and see some things that hadn't been built over or cleaned up.

I believe Don Aronow started the company on 188th street. Then Formula went through various aquisitions until the Porter family purchased it in 1976. We did have a facility in Decatur, Indiana and one in North Miami at or around 141st street across from the diner(don't remember the name). The building is still there, but once we built our current facility in 1988 we moved all operations back to Decatur.
