Which strainers do you guys recommend for my 382, 500 EFI?
Where can I buy a set? |
Hardin Marine, Stainless Marine, Latham, all make good Strainers.

Mac,
I just put the Stainless Marine in mine last season when the engines were out. Highly recommended by Steve from OSO. They are not cheap, but very good quality and fit perfectly. You may need to find another source ... I bought mine through Fred at Trick. He was more than fair to me on price and they were on time as promised, but who knows whats happening with Fred right now ... |
RedDog,
Did you complete the plumbling yet? If so, do you have any other shots? BTW, What's up with Fred? (PM me if you need to) Dave |

Flexible reinforced hose with straight fitting from the lower to the raw water pump intake, 45* fitting out of the top (shut-off valve) with reinforced flexible hose downward through the extension box to the drive fitting. Also fresh-water flush hose to 3rd fitting on the forward side of each strainer to hose connection. I wish I knew what was happening with Fred. Always treated me right and had several very pleasant conversations with him. I'm concerned for him on a personal basis. Chris |

We do carry the most consumer friendly sea strainer made for a boat. We have designed our sea strainer to need only one hand to use. Our Swirl Away Sea Strainer is made up of 316L Stainless Steel. It comes with two inlets and two out lets that can be a 1'' npt or a 1 1/4'' npt depending on your hose size. Our lid is a Lexan lid that has a recessed o-ring so that when the top comes off so does the o-ring. The lid is connected by a single stud in the middle. This has a handle on it to make one hand use possible. After the lid is off we have designed a cone shaped collecting basket to not only stop large pieces of debris but cut up the little pieces to allow them to pass though the engine. Cleaning of the debris, is simply done by pulling out the cone shaped basket, thus containing the debris with it’s shape instead of dumping in your engine compartment. All our sea strainers come with one 3/4'' bung for a pressure relief valve but the second is perfect for a flusher kit. All the sea strainers have a large 6'' diameter. We offer an 8'' tall, 10 1/2'' tall, and a 24''. We have all but the 24'' in stock. If you have any questions just call Tony or Jeff at (386) 445 - 2500 http://www.cpperformance.com/ebay/620-913200.jpg |
Wes, have you had a chance to get that thing in the water yet?
