Ended up taking a ride to the mouth of the lake Saturday, (rollers, rollers, and more rollers, to his credit AXA was good and didn't toss the little woman around too much) Ended up in Cape Vincent for lunch at Captain Jacks, excellent food. Sunday was Bloody Mary's and a cruise on Rockstars 38 sundancer rippin' at 34.1 mph. Had ragged in his 35 and a 38 express cruiser jumping our wake, very cool. Unfortunately the photographer didn't quite capture the moment.
Rollers :D. Have some video of 5P in them, think you can see Mics head levitating above the dash. The Biotch seems to like the snotty stuff, no complaints from the boat load of peeps either. Captain Jacks is for sure on the do again list, cool little spot right there on the water, H/C accessible and just a short hobble from the public dock. I think Mrs Axa is starting to come around, she couldn't resist a hop thru that art shop. Best part of the day for me was picking up Dougs 11 yr old nephew and his friends on the way back and taking them out for their initial Fountain indoctrination run. One is all set to buy now, one is going to set up a Fountain dealership, and the little girl is looking for a rich kid with a fast Fountain. Gotta love it when the plan comes together. The smiles on their faces, for me, Priceless!!! |

Probably best that we didn't do the Sackets thing then. It was riled up pretty good down our way. South-south-east wind but it would have been nasty around Stony Point. Reports were better than threes and building just offshore a mile or two.
Still planning a Bay cruise on the 5th, 6th, and 7th with Gottwins. Four day weekend comming up here, maybe we can get a Sackets run in this weekend. |
After this weekend it will be official 5 out of 5 great lakes for Hot Stepper. Got a slip in Burnham Harbor, right across from Soldier Field. 20 minute walk to Downtown launching at Benton Harbor Sat a.m. - 70 milish run across the lake :boat:. Forecast looking great. Just wanted to rub it in a little:ernaehrung004:

Back at work after an awesome trip. Took the chance on Friday late afternoon launched and was able to run 40-45 all the way across never saw another boat the whole way. a little bouncy but seen much worse. Stayed at Burnham Harbor for the weekend. Did the Field House Museum, Sheds Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Navy Harbor, Second City, Dinner at Texas de Brazil & Catch 35. The run back yesterday was even better - 40-45 starting out building up speed as the lake flattened out. Stopped about half way across had lunch with the city skyline still in sight saw like 3 other boats making the crossing. As we went east - last third of the trip averaged 50-60. I think I may have pissed off some guy fishing near Benton Harbor - boats all over the place picked a line though the biggest opening which happened to be about 500 ft. he gives me this arm shrugging look like hey I'm here, and I'm thinking no chit I'm 250 ft away totally legal passing maneuver - get over it or head out to bigger waters away from the port opening away from all of the boat trafic Dipstick. Seen a big orange Nortech cat 36 or 38 coming out of Benton Harbor on our way in - I'd swear it was the same one I seen in the St.Lawerance earlier in August that ran the Kingston poker run.
So now its official Hot Stepper has been in all 5 Great Lakes. :drink: I think I'll start a new thread for that one. |
Labour Day Weekend At the "Boathouse" ......
I am not quite sure where to start other than ..... that was an AWESOME weekend and one he!! of a party.
Running all day Sunday with the 6 of us must have turned more than one head ...... going from one end of the river to the other was awesome ..... the weather was the best it has been all summer. I am still recovering freom all the laughing we had all weekend. You know you have a party started when Bob and Wayne can hear the music from "the boathouse" over at Bonnie Castle. Then all a sudden we had a "Kid Rock" stunt double (Rockstar) start lip singing and dancing on a dock box (not Randy's). It was quite a show with the spot light on him. Never new if you were pissed because of the loud music you could just come down and start drinking from the slurpy machine and go back to your boat and send out your wife to do the complaining. Pete got the most of the abuse all weekend ..... all in fun I might add ..... You were a great sport. I have to ask though .... seriously does Fountain offer that compass cover that looks like a head of hair because when you running behind me (most of the weekend) I was starting to think that boat had an auto pilot and you were in the cabin because I couldn't see you. No big deal just ask'in ....... :D I am just kidd'in once again ...... To all you once again THANK-YOU ...... what a blast .... Jeff |
Twins:
Pleasure havinig you join us. Must be the weather wasn't good enough for Rip to come and join in. Too bad, because we broke EVERY rule in the boathouse Sunday night! I haven't gotten a call yet, don't think I will, to turn the music down. Got some picures to post, but it will have to wait. I have many things going on this week and not alot of time to get them off the camera and up here...But I'll try. Hope to see you back in the boathouse soon! Dave and Gail |
