Since you were stealing parts off it anyways, might have been close if you gave them the entire truck. Did you keep the cigarette lighter as well?

I kenw I forgot somthing. Truck would have been lucky to get the standard $500.00 for trade in. 213K miles, needed a new trrans, blew out a brake line thursday, drove it in with two brakes working and kept it under 70 as it would heat up the trans and force me to drive 40 the rest of the way. The only thing worth anything was the hood that was replaced this last spring - cowl induction - posted pics earlier in the thread. as for borrowing hmmmmm No, I might let you ride in it though. Oh if I'm not mistaken I believe the taxes paid are deductible at the end of the year. New deadline for dealers just anounced, 8 pm EDT tonight, no slack for the west coasters.

Better get'em while there HOT!! Not too late to own a classic!

Too bad...sad to see an iconic figure leave the arena. I'm thinking he'll be back. Some way, some how, maybe on a smaller scale.

Been coming for a little bit now. Being a fan and a stockholder one watches a little closer than some. Little signs of things not being biz as usual have been there if you were paying attention. Check the comment made by Scott Shogren in the thread. My feeling is that there will be a new Fountain just down the road a ways. A new privately held company vs the public structure it now operates under. Reggie has always been and still is the single major stockholder of all outstanding shares, 51% +/- a few tenth's, is personally a relatively well off individual and likely has some folks close to him that have the means to help, I think he will come thru this.

Far as bargains on Fountains, they have been out there for a while now, I have received a few calls and some of the numbers have been interesting to say the least. Reality is there are some bargains out there on any brand you want right now. One of the huge problems right now for dealers is finding financing for buyers, most cases need at least 20% down against "real" numbers, perf boats can be 30% or more, makes it hard to sell anything at any price. More or less, if you can pay cash you might be able to get a loan for some of it. So much for the Feds helping the banks in exchange for them making loan money available to get things going again.

I like my Fountain, I would buy another even if the company were to go away for good. It's a piece of glass, 99.9% of what makes it up could be replaced, repaired or serviced thru other channels if they were gone. The big deal would be if Merc goes away, and they have their issues now as well. Not good times in any biz right now.

I hear that Obama is going to send you thieves that are stealing parts off his gas guzzling clunkers a bill and then have the IRS deduct it from your tax return check.

That hood and hard box cover likely value out at $4500.00, how's that going to work out for you?

If you want them for $4500.00 I'll deliver them to your door. I was hoping for $800 - $1000 for the hood and maybe another couple bills for the topper unless I paint it to match Cheryl's beast. Besides, I didn't steal them, I asked the dealer and they said go ahead. So he's the one that needs to worry. Just got another email..................The government's cash-for-clunkers computer system for dealers crashed again this afternoon, a National Automobile Dealers Association spokesman said. The group may ask for another extension of tonight's 8 p.m. rebate-filing deadline

Go figure! A Democrat brainstormed system has failed to produce the promised result.
Damn, I need a cocktail!

Far as your pilfered parts, I wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for a whole functioning Dodge, let alone parts and pieces of one. You're missing the base principal of this dumb azz program, it was to take these vehicles off the road. The smoke the motor and crush the clunker stipulation was to prevent the possibility of other similiar vehicles to remain operable thru the use of junk parts being taken off them to add to the usefull life of like models. If you are going to take the taxpayer's dollars then at least do your part in spirit to put the entire vehicle in a better place, and further the end of 2000 Dodge trucks for good.
