Maximus on a 292
Just wondering if anyone has tried running a set of Maximus props on a 292, and if you did, what pitch they were.
|
Always wanted to try it,never had the chance.Judging from the improvement on 353's and 382's,I believe they would work. Typically, going from 4 bld to 5 bld,you drop a pitch,so if you are running 28's,26's would be close.
|
Smaller pitch to offset the extra blade?
What would the advantage be over the 28 pitch 4 blade? |
Less slippage.
|
But would less slippage give you less rpm's at a set speed due to the smaller pitch props, or would staying with the same pitch props give you more top end?

Slick02, your 292 had 350's correct? Did you switch the props at all? Or did you stick with the stock 28p?
100th POST!!!!!!!! WOOHOOO! |

100th POST!!!!!!!! WOOHOOO! Split, I ran the stock 28's and could still get 69 to 70 on on gps on a good day with a light load (relative term)pulled 4900 to 5000 rpms and while planing wasn't stellar, it was acceptable. Loved that boat, and when I change back to a performance type boat, I'll call Magicfloat and and probably end up with another 292, Small enought to handle/dock/load alone without effort yet big enough to do the kind of boating I do comfortably. But right now I am kinda enjoying the PC(generators and a/c are nice) |
My parents first boat was a 195 Four Winns Sundowner, I was 3 years old when they purchased it. They kept it at Trenton Marine Center in New Jersey, at the time they were a pretty big Fountain dealer along with Formulas, now they are the biggest Formula dealer and just got Fountain back. Although my father loved the SR1's & Fastechs, they didn't fit his needs. I dreamed of owning a performance boat, just fell in love with them from being around them. I looked into the Formula SS's, although the SS would better fit what I like to do no a boat, I had to go with the Fastech. I'm sure I will own a SS sometime in the future, but for now I'll enjoy my time with 292.

I had Julie from Throttle-up Propellers run my RPM speed # and she told me that unless I can get more power out of the motors keep the 28 4 blades.Real nice person and honest

I'm going to keep the stock 28 4 blades, just wanted to see if anyone had a little improvement in planing, mid-range, or top-end with anything else.
Roughly two months to go, till I start getting her ready for next season. Can't wait. |
