Hello all,

My starboard battery is dead, last 2 times out I've bridged to get it started, and after a few hours of running it will hold enough charge to fire up at the dock, but a week later it's dead again.

I'm going to replace that one, and maybe both, but am curious as to what replacements others here have installed, especially if you have some extra stereo or other big drawing electronics on-board.

I am thinking of installing a deep-cycle for the port-side, which has the stero and amps connected, and a standard battery (starting battery) starboard. Anyone see problems with that plan?

Also, my boat is an hour away from me, stored inside on the trailer. Anyone know the size\model so I can buy it here in town?

My 2006 292 came with Deka batteries. The port side that runs most of the accessories is a p/n 1231MF and has 1125 CCA. It is not a deep cycle, but is one big battery. I think you want to stay with a standard battery (not deep cycle) since it cranks the port engine. The starboard battery is the smaller Deka Marine Master p/n 24M7 with 875 CCA.

Deka is my choice. Formula has used them for years. We also use them in our other boats that ship without batteries. They are available most anywhere.

look up a Thermo King dealer in your area, ask for the EON battery it is a dry cel battery with a 5 year warranty

If you move away from a flooded-type battery, you will have to re-set your charging voltages....

I use Deka Group 31 combination cranking/deep-cycle batteries in my 382. That way, I never have to worry about using the "wrong" battery, and all three are the same spec.

I did find a local Deka dealer and purchased two of the 1231MF batteries. Unfortunately, they were about a 1/2 inch too big for the battery hold down frames, so I went to the local marine store and bought two group 27 batteries.

Deka was kind enough to accept the return on the 1231MFs the following week, so although I'm not running the big Deka I would have preferred, at least I'm back on the water!

That is the important thing! It has been a long winter here in the midwest. I will be putting my batteries back in soon and we hope to be on the water by late March, early April.

How much did the two deca batteries run you? Boat came with two cranking Interstate Batteries. Checked my batteries on Sunday, one's showing 0% the other's at 25%. Put both on the charger, neither will hold a charge for long. Checked prices real quick at Sears, for the same battery only different brand, Diehard, price was around $79 per battery. Good thing I'm getting a tax refund this year.
