I purchased a slide anchor which comes with a great heavy- duty vinyl anchor bag that velcros shut. I store it in the cockpit area inside the storage space on the port or starboard side. It will not fit in the anchor locker.

I do almost the same thing mine is a box anchor though. It comes in a heavy bag and I keep an old life vest around it.Would not want to keep any anchor in the locker as you will find it sticking out of the boat one day

If the 292 has a bow anchor don't bother leaving it up there. I did on my old 312 and got into some snot on the Chesapeake bay. Let's just say I ended up doing some fiberglass work on the INSIDE of that locker!!!!

For right now, I have my anchor, 100ft of 1/2" anchor line, and 6' of vinyl coated chain stored up in the locker. I'm on a river which doesn't see a whole lot of rough water. Mine fits pretty snug in there. Not to say it couldn't cause any damage, but it hasn't yet. I've been out several times and have checked it after every run, it hasn't moved or shifted from the spot I orginally placed it in, then again I haven't seen any rough water either. I have a few ideas in mind to add a little protection to it just in case, but we'll see how it goes.

Nice! You can't go wrong with Fortress. We keep our FX11 in the port gunnel. It 'just fits' in there. You have to bring it in on its side, top end first, then once in there stand it straight up and set it all the way aft.
