400 SS rocks
This thing is great. Got to love the 525's, I went out in the big blue on sunday with 10 people aboard and it went 55 with no problem. ( the water was pretty flat )
The only problem i had was the water pump quit. ( where the heck is it located?) |
That's awesome! I'd love to own that boat someday. That hull is capable of more speed too! There was a magazine test somewhere where they put superchargers on, swapped drives for Bravo 1's, and got around 70mph! That would be my dream - a nice cruiser that could hold a ton of people and still hit 70! 55 still isn't too shabby :)

The only problem i had was the water pump quit. ( where the heck is it located?) The pump is located on top of the water tank. The water tank is under the floor, so step into the bilge and squat down so you are facing the portside motor. Do a 180 and you will see the pump on top of the water tank. |
Nice Dan! ...and nice pad too, I know that block, I have a buddy Carlos Camargo lives a couple houses down from you, he called to tell me about this guy who moved in down the street with killer Cig rig and matching truck and wondered if I knew you... small world !
Best of luck on the water pump. |

If its the same one that ran in the Shootout (not too many Pro-Charged 40SS's), I think it ran just over 70

If anybody is interested, placed ad up for mine today at Boattrader.... OSO ad is not letting me upload right now, will try later tonight!!!
Looking for a Formula 382, 38 Powerplay, something along those lines with a good cabin for overnighting... http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...400SS-92967989 Thanks, Pat 410-320-5748 Cell |
I think its a great boat but the bravo 3's are too light. The pkg to have is the 525/NXT's. Its not quite available yet but for retrofittin it will be indestructible..my 2c

If you are putting NXT`s on it, don`t stop at 525`s lets see some serious hp 600`s or maybe 700`s NOW that would be a package!..........
Yeah! NXT's and 700's......but who would be crazy to do something like that!!!!!! :D :evilb: |
Having ridden on the (Volvo) diesel-powered boats, I'd love to try turning one of them up about 100 hp. They run 50+, yet are supposedly only 370 (crank) hp!! There's already a 435 hp version of the same engine (for use with IPS) and that drive's almost as big as a #6, too.
Hey Spicy! I've got a freshly-refurbished 382 you can have in about 5 years. In the meantime, maybe we could work out a weekend exchange program, preferably one weekend when the weather's really crappy.....:D |
Hey C-spray the diesel 400 IS my favorite boat to drive in the SS lineup and I have sold three in the last few years and have a customer in the works for a new 09 boat. cruising at 38 mph and burning a third of the fuel a gas boat does is a trip!..............
BUT........... The 45 Yacht is a blast 35,000 lbs that drives like a runabout, loves to cruise at 32 mph and will run close to 40 with the right conditions. What a trip!..................... |

We were out on it last night until midnight, went to dinner with six people, just kicked back relaxing after dinner at the docks then croozed home, nights like that and I want to keep it??? I wish I could afford it I would just go and buy a cat and keep both of them... |
