Default 400SS vs. 370SS

I am starting to research the two boats. I am in the custom boat arena today and only boat on Havasu. I live about 20 miles from the big blue and want to start going in the ocean AND lakes (mead, havasu, powell).
I have a family and am planning another small one soon. (I just need the better half to kick down more and stop thinking the stork will just fly over and drop one in)
anyways, I first started looking at the 380 Fasttech which is very cool, but won't suffice with what I have in mind as far as boat camping, diving, "luxury", etc..
Is there a big difference in the two boats?
Trailering...huge question. I have a 2500 duramax that won't tow either? I also have a Freightliner tractor that I really don't want to drive around being that it only seats two..
How do you guys trailer your boats and what is your opinion on towing between the two?
Thanks

Both of those are too wide to trailer without a permit. I looked at them at a boat show. Aside from the differences that come with size, the major difference seemed to be that the 400 had a diesel option which the 370 did not have.

You might check out the Cobalts. The 36' or whatever they replaced it with is similar to the 370.

Its not nearly as well set up for entertaining and relaxing, but I decided on a 382 because I can park it next to my house, and trailer it without a lot of hassle. Plus, its a blast

I trailer a 382 every weekend with a F350 dually...no problems. The 370 and 400 SS models seem too much boat/weight for a dually so you'll need a bigger frieghtliner!
Width on short tows wouldn't be too big an issue where I live for the 370 but the 400 would really stand out and either may be an obvious problem where you live.....long/regular tows are going to get you "pop'ed".
We are a family of 5 (3 kids) and overnight a fair amount. It's tight but we've done a number of 3 day/ 2 night trips and last summer a 5 night trip sleeping/eating on the boat.

Your right the 2500 isn't going to tow either.
I have a 400SS and a trailer but i have to take off the radar to tow it and that is a pain.
Since you want to do the ocean and Havasu the 370SS is a better choice. Pm magic 34 he hauls his 370ss around.

At the boat show I got on the 370 and 400 SS. The 400SS cabin is much larger, surprisingly. It just seems much more difference than 3'. If you can swing it I'd get the 400SS. Go check them out in person and you'll see.

I trailer my 370SS everywhere and I am on Havasu 3-4 times per year. I live in the Phoenix area.

I went with the 370 because my brother has a 400SS he trailers everywhere (Vegas area). He has a hell of a time with the truck and overall size of the boat on the trailer. I learned from him that it was just too much. He has had his boat for years now, and it has only been to Mead. He is nervous taking it to Powell and Havasu (much longer drive than Mead).

The 370 is not that bad to pull. I had a 2006 3500 Chevy dually, and it pulled it, but for as often as I tow (everytime I use the boat), I sold the dually and got a freightliner sportchassis which does great with the boat.

If you only had to tow 15 miles or so to the water, I would say the 2500 is fine. The guy that delievered my boat to me from CA, delivered it with a 2500. He made it, but he said he felt it every second of the way.

The 400ss is 3' longer, but it is that extra 1' in width that kept me at the 370SS. 11.5' on the road is overwhelming if you tow often.

A guy I know has a clean 2004 370SS on a trailer out here in Phoenix or it is n storage in Havasu. He only wants $150k and he just built a trailer for it.

The 370SS is 10`6" wide and 14,500 lbs. while the 400SS is 11`wide and 17,000 lbs............

I do have to drop the light tower down on the 400 to get it below 13`6"...........

I tow both boats to and from the boats shows with a 1992 single axle cab over International road tractor on a triple axle water launch trailer and cruise at 65 mph no problem...........

My wife will ride with me from time to time and she enjoys lying down in the sleeper and reading while going to the shows.....

We also can deliver to other place here in Missouri like Table Rock, St. Louis, Alton Pool, etc. and they like the idea of water launch instead of having to use a travel lift..........

Do you know any of the details on that boat?
How many hours, what motors, original owner, salt or fresh, etc...?
