I have a 271sr1 with 600hp that i am trying to get to go faster. Right now the best ive seen is 72 gps. Since then, I have had the bottom worked on and much of the hook has been eliminated. I am also building a 800HP N.A. motor for next season.
My question for anybody out there is if anyone has heard of someone with a similar boat (even fastech) and what was their setup. I don't know if a stand off box will help or not. It hasn't chine walked yet, but i am sure it probably will over the 80 something mark. I am thinking it could make it into the mid 80s.
Anybody know of a similar setup or have any advice?

A 271,step or non step, will not see mid 80's with even 800 hp.The 271 is a great boat as long as you accept that it will never be very fast. It is just a very nice gentleman's performance boat with high quality,a solid ride, and is very happy with the speeds it is capable of.

That's pretty impressive. I just had my hull worked on to remove the hook. they weren't able to remove all of it without filling in forward. It was going to cost too much to remove it completely. Does your bottom still have any hook left?

Im in Oklahoma City, Usually boat at texoma and go to LOTO 2 or 3 times a year.
I "built" this boat last spring. We raised the x dim 2" and installed a modified 525sc. Out of the shoot it ran high 60's. Then I swapped the drive for a bmax. It slowed it way down to 64. The gearing was way off. I then raised the boost as much as possible and did some more tweaking which got me into the 70 mark. I now have worked on the bottom and have swapped the bmax to an xr.
The motor I am changing to this winter is a 609ci N.A. mechanical roller motor that should be better than 800 h.p. and turn around 6000rpm.
I know I am going to have to go easy on the sticks to keep from blowing the drive off the transom, but weve done it before!
