I'd be interested, would they be cut from aluminum, or stainless?

OK...Here it goes.

Spoke to the machine shop today, and of course the first set will be a test or proto-type. Good news is my boat is right around the corner from his shop for the test fit. He would like to manufacture them all at once and is working up a price. He thinks he can get the grooves pretty close to what's there and they will be bare aluminum. Before we go into production, I will need a positive yes or no from anyone interested, that can be done with a PM to me at axapowell.

Cost: Not sure yet, it depends on how many sets I order. The more ordered = Less cost. It looks like the factory ones are $140 for the pair and they are plastic. What should I try to get them for? Be fair now, this is a custom piece. Is $250 a set unreasonable? Shipping won't be much, I have a FedEx Corporate Account and a place to drop them off close by.

I need some feedback from you guys. Also the cup holder hole. If you are going to use the factory cup holder, fine. But if you are thinking of an after market aluminum one, we need to all decide on which company to buy them from, as the hole will have to be modified (I think).

Speak now!!

Dave

I would be in provided the price is reasonable. I would vote for a matching cup holder to be included in production. I would want a suitable match between the components. Will this resemble the stock plastic part with a hinged step/lid?...barryd

I'd be in for $250/pair, and can send you the cupholder dimensions, if need be. The depth of the recess seems OK, but the diameter needs to be increased....

I would be interested in seeing detailed pictures of the prototype. Details like how they plan to do the hinged section and the finish. I assume it will be polished. There may be a need to provide slight clearance for those who will have them anodized. I would go with clearcoat anodized to match my handles. Not sure where I can get that done. Any ideas? $200-250 seems reasonable if enough people place orders.
