I agree. Actually, I think a 271 with the 525 had a higher MSRP than a 292 with twin 6.2's. Don't know what the top speed of the 271 with that engine is, but it couldn't be much over 70-75 mph.

Got one for you , but it's a Tad faster then that It's out of T . Crockett Magic Dust "Formula" :evilb:

If you are set on a single, you should be able to find a 271 for sale, but it will likely have a 496 HO. You can pick it up much cheaper than a 525 271 and plan on Raylar or Whipple upgrades for the future.

Don't count out the twin small block 292. You may find some good deals out there and they are turn key reliable honest 70 mph boats (with 6.2's) with a lot of potential. Great mid-range acceleration too. Counter rotating drives and heavier, so tracks well and tames bigger water than a single engine. There is quite a bit of room to work on these engines compared to twin big blocks. I changed all the plugs a couple weeks ago no sweat. Plus, twin engines are just cool!:p Something to think about.

Thanks 4mulaFasTech......What are ya pullin' it with. I have a new 2009 GMC Ext Cab 5.3, will it do the job. It is only rated at around 7500 towing. The boat weighs 7000 lbs. + the trailer, gear and fuel. Probably need a 2500 HD Truck, eh??

You're welcome.:drink:

I wouldn't recommend towing a 292 with that truck. You are looking at 9000+lbs total and it isn't safe to exceed the trucks towing rating. Although, I don't have any first hand experience trying to tow with that type of truck. I actually bought a 2500 HD crew cab with the Duramax in anticipation to the 292. Tows great! I highly recommend a diesel if you can swing it.

I love my Prestige tailer. Tracks perfectly running 75mph on the highway even in heavy winds and around turns. I have never towed my 292 with a twin axle, so it is hard to compare. About the only con's I could think of with a triple is when backing in tight places it will scrub the tires more and when it comes time to replace tires you got a couple extra!
