25-30 foot single engine Formula??
I love Formula boats, however I'm interested in a 25-30 foot, single engine boat with a 525 or 575. Formula doesn't offer the 27 any more? Why does Formula only make the 292 with double small blocks?? How about a 27 or 29 Fountain? Maybe a 288 Sunsation? Any advice?

Don't count out the twin small block 292. You may find some good deals out there and they are turn key reliable honest 70 mph boats (with 6.2's) with a lot of potential. Great mid-range acceleration too. Counter rotating drives and heavier, so tracks well and tames bigger water than a single engine. There is quite a bit of room to work on these engines compared to twin big blocks. I changed all the plugs a couple weeks ago no sweat. Plus, twin engines are just cool!:p Something to think about. |

I believe sales hurt the 271, I don't believe it's scrapped just yet, they just made a business decision to stop production on them.
Some Formula dealers might have a 271 leftover still sitting on their lot or in warehouse. I did see a few 271's in NH that were being offered with 525 setups, not sure if they are still available. |

There was a 272 at the Toronto Boat Show with a 525. Not sure what marina had it but im sure you could find out pretty easily.

Its just my opinion here, but I think Formula killed the 271 themselves, it just plain got to pricey, and the price on a 271 VS the 292 was so close everyone went with the 292's
