Default Considering a 27 formula

Been searching on the forums but havent had much luck finding information. My wife and I are looking into formula offshore boats in the 27 foot range. I know they had the SR-1 and then the 271 I believe. I know the formula hulls are a little heavier than some competitors but is there one hull better than the other? Basically what are the differences between the years?

Thanks

The older 272 SR-1 is nearly 30 ft long and twin engine only. The 271 is only 27 ft and single engine only....not nearly the same boat.

what t500hps said

I have never had a 271 BUT i had a 272 with twin SBC's in it. GREAT boat by no means a speed demon BUT in 3 FT chop would run away from my buddy's 253 Check, flat water was a different story. The Formula is a heavier boat and will ride better in the rough.

I love my 271, looked hard at the 272 for a year only reason I never bought one was I couldnt find "the one" in hindsight I am glad I got the 271, single 502, same speeds as the 272 only it has a single and with gas the way its been I'm happy, the 272 as said above is 30ft long, and WAY heavier also has a much bigger/nicer cuddy if you consider a 271 also consider a 242 there almost the same boat, let me know if u have any questions

Thanks for your help!

From what I can see the sr1 was from 92-96. And the fastech from 97 on from there. Is the fastech a much better hull.

I believe the FastTech 3 is a more efficient hull. In sloppy chop, maybe the older straight V-Bottom is more of a crusher.

Curious to hear other opinions.
