I had my 292 on Lake Erie, but not in 3-5's. The waves on the lake are a lot closer together than the long rollers of an ocean. Would make for a very rough ride. If you are set on the 292, expect to sit out on those days with the NE winds...
Seriously though, I had 280S K-Planes installed on mine and it definitely improved the ride and control compared to the stock Bennett tabs, but anything more than 3's on that lake will be a handful. 90% of our boating is on the Mississippi River, where a 292 is perfect! If you have the means, I would look into a 353 or 382.

wow didnt mean to stir that up i just have to cross the lake my 272 does it in the 30 s unless im headin dead into em hey any of you guys know wat year formula went no wood stringers in the 292

It's a Fountain ...................... and I'm real good!!!

5's might be a bit of a stretch, but 3's are child's play.
Old 5 PM is challenged at 75 on flat water, but he's one of those engineer types,
drinks fancy wine and thinks way too much.

I'm more a Kentucky Bourbon drive it by the seat of your pants kinda guy.
