looking at a 292 with 350 s anyone with one care to give me any input on it i will be running her on lake erie alot 3 to 5 footers chop how would she do in that also fuel burn cruise speed info would be great top end anything you got on this boat would be great thx

I had an 02 292 and I loved it, unfortunately my significant other wanted to opt for less speed(app 70) and more luxury.

I had 1 with 454's and Bravos,,,,76 MPH and runing thru everything !!!!!

Very cool boat.

Mine is an 07, 292 and I love it....I go out in 3-5 chop and it handles it very well. Formulas are quality boats and it show in the workmanship...... if you're looking for 80-90MPH this is not the boat.....but 70 MPH and a lot of quality it's awesome.

A friend of mine has an '03 292 with Scorpions for sale, it's in the classifieds here on OSO. Absolutely perfect condition, always fresh water here in N.Y., lift kept or stored inside, might be worth the call to see where he would go on the pricing. I know he would like to move the boat, just does not use it very much.

The Scorpions would also up the performance if that's what you are looking for.

I can tell you from first hand experience boating on Lake erie for 20 years that if you are expecting top run a 292 in the choppy waters of Lake Erie then this is probably not the boat for you. Certainly not a boat that you want to take out in 3-5s or even 2-3s. Low freeboard and a short hull will not be a very comfortable package on Lake erie. Great boat just not well suited for big water.

Sorry guys I did not try and contradict what Daredevil stated. I believe he had or has driven a 292 SR1 and I believe we are talking about a 292 fastech. Two completley different boats. 292SR1 is a much larger boat.

If you're mainly going to be on the lake, you should be looking 353 or 382. Prior to my 353 I owned a Donzi 28zx and 3-5 on Ontario was at it's limit. My river buddies can get away with 292s and 35 lightnings......

My 2003 292 handles the SF Bay water really well, and 3-5 rollers are pretty common, esecially around the golden gate bridge. But you really have to get on top of the waves and pick good lines, or you're swapping bow\stern alot by dropping in the toughs.

for pure driving fun, I love it. I believe my passengers would all prefer something a little larger, tho

I always figured the Donzi was more limited by the NUT behind the wheel.


As far as the Fountain "river boat", it eats 3-5's at 90+. You do that often?
