I wondered about that too but the dealers had it for at least 1 1/2yrs. I am going to have it surveyed and hopefully they will do a good job. Finally going to see it in person on sat. Trying to unload my 22 scarab so I can have at least 25% down to soften the bank up! Anybody recomend a good surveyor in Dallas/Ft Worth area?

I bought my 353 in Lewisville last year. I had it surveyed by Steve Boudreax, and he was very thorough and did a good job. Let me know if you would like his contact information.

Heres an update, I went to look at it yesterday and was real disappointed. The boat was filthy and the photos provided hid the evils of course. Overall good condition but sitting by a major interstate has been hell on it the road grime was bad on the sets and upholstery and the cabin headliner and walls were sagging and coming off. Im headed back up there for a demo. They are attempting to get a quote to have the cabin vinyl replaced and do a very good cleaning and polishing of her. The only way I will do this is if its done prior or in the contract to make the repairs and I am happy with the survey. The seem willing so we will see. Thanks!

That amazes me when dealers let boats go to sh*t on the lot and don't even bother cleaning it up for a prospective buyer!:rolleyes:

Not sure if you can do it on a '97, but I would have those engines scanned to verify the low hours.

They agreed to make all the repairs and the surveyor will be there tomorrow. If all goes well I will take delivery thurs or friday. strong boat but I never saw more than 65mph. But who knows without gps. It has it but I never turned it on :)

The survey is the best money spent. Besides the motors, pay special attention to the cabin. You already noticed the problems with the headliner. This has been an issue on some 382's, including mine. Take a look at the TV, make sure it is secure and it works. I would also take a good look at all the cabin cushions, refrigerator and make sure all of the acrylic panels are secure.

Before you take delivery, have the plugs changed, PCV, ect. Basically, I would have the dealer take care of all the regular maintenance items.
