382 purchase question!

Does anyone know anything about this boat?

http://www.marinemax.com/Page.aspx/d...2-FASTECH.aspx

I am thinking about selling my Scarab (wife and kid are pushing me for more room and better ride) and moving into a Formula or Fountain. Dealer has had it for a while. any certain places to pay attention to? Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated!

Seems like a good price, love the road kill graphics. If I'm not mistaken, that boat still has wood stringers so the boat is a little heavier but I don't think they had any problems with them. Someone will chime in if I'm wrong.

Is that a common problem with the 500's? Is 130hrs considered low on those engines or near rebuild?

Get a survey if your serious.... Big piece of insurance and you will probably need it for them to.

will do, thanks JB ! I have a good friend thats a marine mechanic on the US army offshore boat and I am going to see if he will come check it over too. This will be my third powerboat but all the others were sbc or 454 mercs . dont know too much about the 500's

One of the salesmen at Glen Cove Called it road kill and I just thought it was funny. I do like the Meteor graphics though.

Looks like a good buy. Look at new valve springs around 300 hours. 500's are good motors.

Thanks Sleek, prob going to do it this winter so I dont have to worry about it, thats the only thing I an concerned with. I have earnest money on it pending financing and survey.

Nice looking rig and a good price! Although I would double check on the engine hours. Only 137 hours on a '97? That seems a little strange. About 11 hours a year. Maybe it sat for several years though...
