I have been looking at both of these trying to get some feed back on each the price is close to the same. The 252 needs very little work, seats and sun pad recoverd the engine is a stock 454 mag and has 435 hrs. the 292 needs more work alot of cosmetic and one of the drives wont go in to gear both engine's are 454 appeare to be recently rebuilt can't confirm this as the boat is a bank repo. I do have the know how to fix most engine and drive problems so im not to worried about the drive that wont shift. this is my first post but i have owned other boats just never a older boat that needs work any help in this would be great.
Thanks

There's no comparison between those two boats. The 25 is basically a 23 footer with an integrated platform. The 292 is a "real" boat that will handle big water, tons more space down below, bolsters (maybe the 25 has bolsters too, doubt it though), twins as Treads said.
The 292 is definitely much nicer to look at, sleek and long. Full 29 feet 2 inches to the transom, at least 31 overall.
No offense to the 252 owners out there but, just look at resale for a 252. Not so good. Formula made some compromises in the early 90's and most Formula fans didn't like it.
If it were my decision, it would already be made: 292!!!
Do the work, clean it up, buff it up, fix it up and you'll have a head-turner. Post up some pics of these boats.

I went to look at the 292 today it needs work but most of it is just time and elbow grease. it does appear to need 1 coupler on the starboard drive. the guy said it wouldnt go in to gear so he had a mech. look at it and was told it need a coupler the drive was still off and looked as if there where no splines left on the coupler. the starboard rear seat has a lot of rotted wood due to vinyl came off and all the trim pieces on the same side need new wood. the cabin needs new carpet and recover one of the cushions in the vbreth (could use all new but only one is torn). the hull looked great even had a little shine still boat got repoed in nov and has sat since no clue how long prior to that it sat. the boat has 525 hrs both engines look to be newer then that. has EMI thunder exhaust. i didnt get to hear them run due to the fuel lines where cut. the mech. said he ran both on a portable tank for about 5 min to winterize and trouble shoot the drive not shifting. the only other things it would need to go boating is props and a eng hatch lift ram. the wife and i think we may make an offer on this one and put the money in to it to get it up and running we are thinking 10k on top of the price of the boat and a trailer (the one that the boat is on now is way to big for it not safe to tow far or at all) that is all the i rember right now we got 20 or so pics but still can figure out how to post them.
