Default Fastech 271 Trim Tabs

Has anyone installed REAL trim tabs or K-planes on a Fastech 271. The factory Bennett tabs are useless because they are SOOOO slow and ones moves faster than the other. I am thinking of upgrading to Eddie or Dana Marine and I am wondering what size to order. . Thanks, Jeff Wurl

If you're going to spend the money just buy the Merc K-Tabs and be done with it. I was looking at a set of Dana's this morning on a 42 Velocity at our marina and they are some real chit. Boat is only a couple years old and the ram bushings are all beat and loose, and the hardware is weak at best. Merc is likely more money, but in the long run worth it, mine are a year older and still like new.

Tony, What size tabs did you go with?? I think the boat needs at least Merc 280s which are 9''X19.25''. Thanks, Jeff Wurl

K-planes. You can find take-offs and new in the box at decent deals if you look around. Powerboat did an article a few years back on adding them to their long-term test 271.

Power Boat Magazine did an article on the 271 with 280K Planes. Those 380's look really radical. nice.
