Hey DJW or Boilerdaddy! How much is that rubrail from Formula. My boat is a 1990 292. I'd like to swith to white. Dan, how long did it take you?

Steve

Formula 1,

It cost me about $700. I got the white rubrail that is just like the black. I in stalled it myself with a friends help in about 6 hours. I could have bought the new style with the stainless insert cheaper, but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to bend the stainless strip around the bow and transom and dealer installation would have taken to long.

Pricing on the white PVC rail without the stainless insert:

$11.12 per foot, in 23-foot sections, suggested retail.

Part number is #6940. Call your dealer for "real" pricing.

292...what a cool boat!

Thanks Boilerdaddy and DJW. For installation, just pull off old stuff and fill in the holes. Are the new rubrails predrilled or do you have to locate the new rubrail's position on the boat THEN drill (or use self tapping screws)??

Sounds like the SS insert rail might look good....

Steve

PS Boilerdaddy, you work at Formula right?

DJW 04-15-2002 01:15 AM

Formula 1,

Unscrew the black rail. Fill all the holes with silicone. The new rail is already drilled and countersunk. Predrill the new holes and insert stainless screws. As far as the one with the stainless insert goes, like I said, I didn't get that one because I wasn't comfortable benting in around the bends. If I can be of anymore help, you can contact me at: 609-314-7193

Steve,

What Dan said...yeah!

As for me working at Thunderbird—let's just say I show up most everyday and they give me a check every month.;) :D

Boilerdaddy,

The team at Formula is awesome!! They refered me to this sight and its been a wealth of information since (not to mention the great support they give directly).

Is there a kit available to re-upholster the back seat on the 1990 292SR1? I know there was one a year or two ago. It's white with blue accent. I believe that is the technical name!

Last, do we have to order parts from a Formula dealer or can it be ordered thru a local marina?

Thanks
Steve

We live to serve!

I doubt if we still have 1990 patterns available...we probably have the white (I think it's similar or the same as we currently use on FASTechs), but I'm really unsure about the blue.

As for where to buy, when I was in TAG, we sold to marinas, so as far as I know, you can buy through a non-Formula marina.

After reading all these posts does anyone have a part # for the rubrail insert in white that will fit in my 84 302. I have seen the Taco inserts but none look like mine. Aftermarket would be fine 7 to $800 for Formulas is too rich for me right now, as Im redoing my interior.
