We're going out for the day tomorrow on our new 223ss. I couldn't figure out why the trim gauge wasn't working right. I got out and found from all the way down it was only going up about 3" inches and then I would have to use the trailer button. I lowered the outdrive all the way down and the gauge was at the bottom. Then I adjusted the sender but how high should I let the outdrive go before I set the sender stop? I adjusted the sender to allow the standard switch to let the boat go as far up as possible without using the trailer button and I can raise it between 1/2 and 3/4 on the gauge. Then I can use the trailer button to get it to 3/4 where it stops. My concern is how do I decide how far to let the outdrive go up before I set the stop. I don't want it to go so high it will blow out the u-joint or wear it out from binding? Can someone measure thier hydralic piston from all the way down to where it should be, then I can measure the piston length to see when to set the stop. Or is it normal to only be able to run the outdrive to 3/4 and use the trailer button to go the rest of the way.
