Stroker 454 Prop Question (252 SS)
I finally got my motor running properly after 4 months and two rebuilds, and am now looking at what direction I should go as far as props.
Here's the set up: 1994 252 SS, Merc 454 - stroker to 508, roller cams, new heads, etc. The dyno ran it at 465 hp, and 580 ft-lbs @ 3200 rpm. It's got a Bravo 1 with a Mirage 21p.
I took it for a run last weekend of around 100 miles, and it tops out @ 58 mph (GPS) around 5100 rpm. I had 5 people in the boat with about 100 gallons of fuel.
My question is how much more prop can I put on it? I'm thinking a Mirage 23 or 23 plus. I would like more top end, hoping for 65-70 mph (I want to beat a friend's 25' Baja with a 496), but the bulk of my time is spent cruising around 38-45 mph (3200-4000 rpm).

How does it run with 2 people ? The 23P is going to drop your rpm 2-300 . Run it with a normal load and check your wot rpm and go from there. Give us more engine specs and what rpm range you want to stay in @ wot. BC
