Default Stereo Subs! '97 382

Well It's time to upgrade my stereo in the boat. Mids and highs sound good says the wife but she said "a boat that nice has to have some thump before it hits the water this spring". So where did you guys put subs in the cockpit and what kind? I was thinking 2 10" marine subs under the rear seat. It looks like thats whats in t500hps boat. Let me know what you did and how it works! Thanks

That's what is in there....JL Audios on a 500/1 JL amp.....the girls will sit on the bench with legs spread, lean forward and close their eyes with a smile!!! I needed to use weather stripping to seal up the space a bit and it now will bounce cell phones right off the bench after a few hits!!! The original 6x9's were to low in the cockpit so I added some 6.25's in replacement side panels I made.....really brought the sound "up" into the boat where you can hear it now.

I put 4 10's on Phantom Caos. It worked well with clarion free airs. It takes a bit of power to get free airs to sound good but if you put the power to them they will work well. If you want to spend the money sealed will work better. I was out in Cali with limited tools so we did we was easiest.

I went on recommendations of some buddies that are in the know...all I know is you have got to spend the money for class "D" amps.....I have a supposed 650 watt kenwood and that 500 watt JL is 3 times the amp.

Default The Only way to Install Subs in a FasTech

I have installed numerous subwwofers in Formulas and I can definitely say the best way by far is to install the subwoofers up front by the driver and passenger. It utilizes the sides of the boat as an enclosure for response, and frees up the area under the seat for stowing fenders, ropes, etc.
Now if I can find a way to post a pic to show....
...and yes you can get around the stowage bin on the pass/port side.

Great! I'm ready to do it. A pic would be fantastic. Now if I'd get off my butt and order my steering wheel and get my dash panels out to be painted I'd be all set. I hope that darn ground hog doesn't see his shadow! I'm ready for spring!
