Default 525 Header Problems

I keep hearing of leaking and cracking CMI headers on the 525's. There are two lengthy posts on the general discussion forum, but seems like alot of the complaints are staggered set-ups. Just curious if anyone has had a problem with their Formula? I just bought a 2004 382 and want to be a little proactive if possible. The Stellings seem to be the answer, but at $6600 a pair I need to exhuast all possibillitys with mine. No pun intended.

Some of it is luck, each header has double the welds that you can see, the inner tube is also pieced together. The more heat / WFO you put into the header and the colder the incoming water will want to contract one side and expand the other, causing stress on the welds - May leak a little and you just don't know it. The only thing you can do is remove the headers, pressure test them and that will prove they are good now and yet they can crack 5 minutes later -Chances are if they have not cracked yet they won't

90% of the problems are salt water boats. As you mentioned, staggard setups are problems too.
