Default Good Info!!!

Just a bit of info I figured my Formula comrads would appreciate! My fuel sending unit went out and contacted my local dealer only to find that the like that part a lot to the sum of $195 so with a little snooping around I contacted VDO got the part number they told me that since I was private owner not dealer, I could order threw my local NAPA I did, new VDO OEM fuel sending unit $109

Also I just put a Gaffrig sender in my boat and it was a quick easy swap.

Did you guys have problems with how the guage was reading, or did it just break? My guage is so inaccurate, I have had it back to the dealer twice and both times I was told there is nothing they could do! I have run out of gas when the guage has read 3/4 full!!!! and sometimes when it was still on full. Ineed to take matters into my own hands, since my boat is only 2 years old, any help would be appreciated!

Haulin take out the sender and see if it is bent and what kind you have. Is it a gaffric sender or is it the float on the end of the arm type. When you get that info let us know and we can help ya out the rest of the way.

My gauge went from 3/8 full to empty in about 10 minutes. I took it to the marina to get gas (2 miles) and it was full (140 gal) when we added 46 gallons. So I was reading empty with 94 gallons of gas!! What's the fix here guys.... this is a '97 312 Fastec.....new sender?????

Fellow boaters , lets not forget we are not talking about a car or truck gas guage. This is a tank in a boat that , first off , doesn't sit level. And when your running gets bounced around. At best every boat I have ever owned only gave you a guesstimate of your fuel level. I have found the best way is the trip odometer on my GPS. I reset it every time I get gas just like in my truck. Last Sunday and Monday I went 98 miles...filled up and took 61 gallons. Just about what I had figured. It's also amazing how accurate the guage is on the trailer in the driveway! But then its sitting still and level.
