Default 383 400hp Scorpions

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/400_scorpion.htm

Anyone put these in a 292 yet?Keep going back and forth about wether I want something bigger or not.If I decide to keep my boat a few more seasons I am adding Hydrolic steering and K planes after this season and was looking at these engines.Propped right, thinking 30s should see high 70s I would think.

One of my buddies had them in a 292 on Lake Lanier in Georgia and ran dead even with us at 72-73MPH at that time. Was a fairly new 292 boat maybe an 07 or 08...

And they were the 6000 rpm 400 HP? Would think it would be more than 3 MPH increase.

Yeah something doesn't sound right there. You should be able to net 70-72 with 6.2s. The 400hp motors running 91(mandatory) should be running 75-80 easy.

i have an 06 292 just got the 383 strokers installed. the only difference is i put the stainless marine exahsut because of the diverter system. the boat was just delivered this weekend, i have not ran the boat yet. BBlades took the 28 lab finished props and recupped them to see if i can turn at least 5800rpm. they think i might need 27's to get the 6000rpm. according to there computer they said i should reach anywhere between 79 to 81mph.

I saw that meant to let us know how they run.Just put exhaust on mine for this season but am planing some upgrades for over the winter. You did the steering already I think.Hope so cable steering is going to be a handfull at 80.
Who put them in for you and you used Stainless marine exhaust or the CMI headers that come with them.I blocked off the prop exhaust and went strait thru hull.Had to because the Imco would not work with the Y -pipe.
