Default Formula 350 SS performance

I am looking at 350 SS. We're a family of four now, performance makes boating fun for me, but having room and comfort gets more and more important for the family. We boat on Lake Superior, usually overnighting, and often return home in big waves. The 310 SS just doesn't do it for us, as there is no mid cabin. We're also looking at 34 pc just for the hell of it. The question: Does the 350 SS offer enough performance to make the compromise worthy? If it drives like a cabin cruiser, then I might as well just say the hell with it and get the 34 pc and enjoy liveaboard time. Any 350 SS owners outh there? What do you think?

Never been on one......but thought I read they did close to 60 with 496's. If your considering used, I'd check with Robert who owns Nelems Marine (Magicfloat here on OSO). He has a 2007 370 that is mint and I've talked to him about it before. I bought my last boat from him and he's as honest as they come.......a 370 would be my preference but based solely on hours of reviewing pictures and performance data online.

That is a nice 370 SS. It doesn't have the rear sun seat or screen cabin door, and some of the other updates the newer 310 SS and 350 SS have. I'll check with him and if something looks possible, then I'll researching for hours as well

Why did you pass this one up?

Thanks for the lead.

I love the 370SS, just don't have the balls to borrow enough money to buy one!!!! Plus my kids are getting old enough that they don't want to be on the boat with mom and dad but not mature enough to leave them at home too often......I just bought a 21 ft CC and they can tube/ski, and drive mom and dad around in the boat and everyone is happy!

You might want to look at the 370. I was on a 350 over the weekend. They are alot smaller. I have 525's in mine. They are fun to have for the noise. Helps getting on plane too.

Went from Cigarette to Formula 350SS and maybe not for the reason you are but I am not unhappy. Certainly don't see any comparison to my previous boat with respect to performance from a 14000# boat compared to my cig. Sneaks up on 60mph and cruises easy close to 40mph. The ride is nice and has all the creature comforts one would ask for on a weekender/ performance cruiser.

Can't discount any previous threat on the 370SS as I am sure they are just as nice and have a stepped hull. Never been on one.

I am partial to quality and I think coming from a Cigarette to Formula the quality is right there with them.

Hopefully my buddy Mentalpause will see this and chime in. He has a 2008 350 SS with 496HO's and Axius. The boat is at LOTO. He went from a 43' F-4 Sunsation to the SS and loves it. The boat will run upper 50's (you won't see 60mph) tops but you don't buy a boat like that for top speed.

We don't have a Formula dealer nearby, so we're making an overnight road trip tomorrow to really take a close look at things. I wish the 370 SS had some of the updates such as the screen cabin door. It will be fun to determine exactly which model we want, but not so much fun to figure out a way to unload or trade my 310 SS, and that will be THE big issue here. I should have just gone with the 350 SS right off the bat, big mistake not getting a boat with an aft/mid cabin.

I really like the cabin on the 350 SS. The boat does everything well. My favorite all around boat for LOTO. Big enough and fast enough to get around quickly when you need to but small enough that docking is never a problem.

Works out perfect for us. Very little size difference from the 37. And the updates are worth it. You will spend a lot of anchor time in that back seat. If you need the added cabin space go to the pc series. 350SS is freat bang for the buck. And my wife loves the boat so its an added bonus.
