Default broken 272

help,1 of my spray rails have broke near the back of my 272,has split down in to places ,about 2 foot apart,and 1foot from the back,any idirs why it would go.

that happened on both sides of a 85 272 i had i thru boulted and glued the rail back in place , maybe caused from stringers getting soft ??

Spray rails??????

Are you talking about strakes on the bottom of the hull or maybe the chines?? Spray rails or spray boards were used on wooden boats. They ran along or just above the waterline from the stern to about a third of the way up the hull. Modern fiberglass boats do not have spray rails.

In any event, sounds like freeze damage from what I can discern. That's pretty serious damage. I think it's time for some professional hull repairs, cha-ching!!!

Ahhh, yes, perhaps he is speaking of the rub rail. That makes more sense especially when you were talking of thru-bolting for the fix. I'm thinking hull strakes and when you said thru-bolting, I'm like
