I just finished my 87 242 with twin 383's. I ran some today and will hopefully be running more this coming week. I will get the details then.

my 88 242ls with a 454/mag ran 59mph. and had a real sweet spot around 3800rpm to 4200rpm where it really cut the water real nice, my 271 is the same way if it gets bouncy give it some power

Test results in... I hit a new high a couple weeks ago 1 mile off Bass River: 55.7mph (1/4 tank, 3 on board). Lots of fun!
It was very rough the week of 8/24. While out jumping 2'-4' waves, I stuffed it (just a little) which popped off both docking lights and sprayed water in the cabin! I found the previous owner never put clamps on them. All set now and ready for the waves! |
So far 53 gps at 4200 rpm. Working on better trim and more rpm this week.

I've had my '87 242 LS in the water now for about a month. It got a heart transplant and the old 330 454 is gone and replaced with a fairly tweaked 439 bbc with around 525 hp. The best I've seen so far is 64.5 on the GPS in 2 foot chop. I'm going to start playing with the jets as its a little rich..
