Do-It-Ourselves 2010 Chesapeake Rendezvous?
UPDATE:
There will be a 2-day raft-up with an optional overnight stay in Still Pond CReek on September 18/19. Details are posted on Formula's Facebook and Twitter pages. Formula will send coozies for every registered boat, as well as a couple of door prizes. The format is open, so feel free to make suggestions. Confirmed so far (8/18/2010): "Me, Too!", 382 FaStech, 2 adults, overnighting "Funny Girl", 41 PC, 2 adults, overnighting "LynchMob", 330 SunSport, 2 adults, 2+ kids, duration TBA "Just One More", 31PC, 4 adults, overnighting "Peace & Quiet", 242 SR-1, 2 adults, 2 kids Saturday I'll add to the list as people commit. We're trying to set the list by September 7 in order to get the right number of Formula goodies. |
We would possibly be interested in a overnight like that. I bet we could get a certain President and First Lady to show up in his recently upgraded 311 too.
|
Great idea, we'd definitely be in depending on the date.
For overnight, we're at the Granary and usually have availability on the bulkhead right behind us. There's also a bunch of 30' slips and a few 40' that can be made available. I keep the 223 next to the 37, but only for the weekends and if it's not needed for transients. |
Treads has expressed interest on FormulaBoatsForums, so that's something like 6 boats already.
Can everyone make September 17-19? |
Best I can tell that works for us. Will double-check when the social secretary gets home.
|
Formula is checking their records to see if they have any contact information from previous events. They are also willing to publicize the event on their Facebook page and in their e-magazine, and throw in some giveaway items.
In the meantime, please pass the word in person to any Formula owners that you see. We'll work on a date based on consensus. (I am not 100% certain on my September schedule just yet...) One thing that will be key in selecting an overnight location is how many people will need to have hotel rooms versus staying onboard (at a marina). |
Cool, thanks for the legwork. I will certainly let all the Formula regulars that I see know about it.
I'm not sure how many rooms are at Great Oak, but on the Sass the Kitty Knight House has ~6-8 rooms. Only issue with them is they are often booked with weddings. I can check with them this weekend to see how availability is looking. |
I'm considering a number of options. One may be to organize a two-day raftup in Still Pond, where those who want (or need) to leave overnight can do so and go wherever they want (home, trailer, hotel, marina...). The big cruisers, mother ships, and adventurous people can stay overnight. Some of the boats with generators could supply power to those who would stay if they had electricity. I know of a couple of 382's that have a/c but no genny.
If we try to organize something based at a marina, they may require some sort of deposit, and I'd rather try to keep this on more of a "fun run" basis. This thread also runs in the "Rendezvous" section of FormulaBoatsForums.com and in the "Formula Owners" section of Speedwake.com... |
We are going to take a look at the dates.:drink:
|
I and a few others may be interested in towing down from NJ to join the event. What marinas are trailer friendly? Does anyone have pictures of any ramps in the area? I was looking at the Mears Great Oak marina but how's the ramp? The place looked interesting because the fastech guys can get a room.
