Default 271 Fastech

Anyone know why they stopped building the 271?

Sales numbers dropped off I believe. Not that much of a difference in price between 271 & 292. Believe the 292 was just more enticing with twin small blocks. Has a couple nicer features that aren't offered on the 271. Didn't buy new, but the twins and features are what made me choose the 292 over the 271.

because in the later years the sales really dropped, hack there still are new 08's floating around in warehouses, boat VS boat everyone bought the 292 when it came out, the two boats were so close in price and the 292 blows the 271 away in performance that everyone was choosing the 292, lets face it if you can afford 125k you can aford 25k more, in my opinion Formula flat out priced the 271 to extinsion, and when there selling 25/26 outlaws for 80/90k that plane better and run the high end better how could they compete, of course you get what you pay for and the build isn't there but seems people always choose performance over build,

I remember looking at a 08 271 at the TO boat show equipped with a 525, what a boat!

Guess I'm biased. I blew up my HP 500 and rebuilt it to a 540 with 675HP. The 271 does 83 MPH on the GPS at wot and cruises 62 MPH at 4000 RPM's. I love blowing by folks and seeing the look on their face like, "What the heck does he have in that thing"

Yes, the 271's were priced through the roof!!!, for the performance you get. I love mine but would like to see alot more top speed.
Hey richsformula, I would like to hear more about what you have done to yours to get that kind of speed.

My HP blew up. I had it completely rebuilt from the crank up. It's bored and stroked to 540ci. Also converted it to Fuel Injection with a motec engine mgt system. It dynoed at 678HP with 700lb/ft of torque. I had to put an XR drive on the boat, external hydraulic steering and a set of Dana HP 1000 tabs. I'm running a 28p bravo 4 blade. It's a sleeper
