Default Diesel or Gas power for a 400ss... pros and cons

Hi all.

I am still 400ss shopping.

Most of the ones I have found are 2002-2004 with the B3x and 496 motors...

I have found a few with diesel power, with B3x. The diesel ones seem to typically have more hours on them.

Just didn't know what differences I would experience with each of these... would appreciate any insight anyone can offer...

top speed, fuel consumption, crusing speed, maintenance, repairs, etc..

THANKS!

Look down about 6 posts:

400SS Gas versus Diesel

Absolutey stay away from the older Mercury/Bravo diesel boats. They are really slow, and put a lot of stress on Bravos.

The newer Volvo D6-370/DP-H packages are the real deal.

FYI, I found the boattest.com reviews helpful when I was looking. I have found that for my 400ss diesel, their test numbers match my performance perfectly.
