Check it out..."Build your Formula" they're now showing a substantial discount. I built a 382 and the final price showed a 34% discount.

I am wondering when one of the Formula Dealers will file suit. Unfair competition. What Formula is doing is bringing down the value of there boats. This is no difference than a dealer selling a two year old repo boat with 0 hours. On one side I can't blame Formula but on the other this should have been thought out better. I am just waiting to see who will file a suit first because they bought a repo boat (New Untitled )to save money, without a warranty because Formula felt they could void it because of the price. Many states have implied warranties and a manufacturer can not give part of a warranty and not the other because the customer got a good deal. This should be very interesting!
Note, I love my Formula and the factory service has been nothing short of excellent but I have a bad taste when it comes to Formula and there thoughts on the extended warranty offered to these customers. They are going to find it very hard to get some dealer to buy more boats with the factory discounting these and competing. What they should have done was, if a boat is sold in the dealers territory give the dealer 6 points because the dealer will end up cleaning up the mess when things turn around.My guess is that it will be hard to find a dealer to take on the franchise. What will happen is that customer will not travel hundreds of miles just to see a boat that they my want to look at but instead go to there local dealer whatever brand that my be.
Just my own opinion so that it for what it is worth.

I wonder if Formula selling boats "direct" still gives some type of credit to the closest dealer? I local boat dealer will "sell" a boat direct outside of his sales force letting you think your avoiding commissions.....but in reality everyone of those sales gets attributed to a salesman. He's not screwing them, just letting you believe that's how it worked if you think it gets you a better deal.

I have said this before and will say it again.The only boat builders that will be left standing when this is all over....Well if it does end as there is a very real possibility that this is the recovery are the small custom builders.They can survive on a boat a month the larger ones can't.
They will also all be direct and actually that is a good thing as most dealers are worthless anyway.Formula did a lot of the damage to themselves by overcharging for there boats then offering a low interest rate.Those actions made there owners buried in there boats when it came time to sell.

Definitely evident in some of the used prices now, many available as well. Sometimes, greed kills.

I said a while back that dealers were making 30 % on Formulas.All the dealers came in and said no I was not even close.Formula just proved me right.When they can take that much off and sell direct.

when I bought mine 1 MY leftover clean deal 100K off 225 retail in '03...
told me everything I needed to know!
do that margin math.

There's a reason dealers and manufacturers get so angry when topics like these are brought up. (I've seen threads deleted on sites for less than this)

People know how much was taken off of new and holdover boats the last couple of years. This was no secret. Now, they all want to go back to the little dealer/builder game they have. Apparently, Formula wants to break with the historical norm. I think all it will do is show everyone how much the dealer actually gets.

I doubt this has much to do with market prices for new Formulas. But just price out a 2010 model and compare it with a clean, low-hour 2003 to 2008 model. Then, take 30% off of retail.
