My '84 has the same low profile dark windshield -- I think it was an extra cost option. Do you find that it keeps the wind out of your face when you're sitting down? I'll find out this weekend when she goes out on her maiden Lake Michigan voyage (the boat's been in the Minneapolis area all its life).
