Default Too Wrap or Not To Wrap my 311

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]The boat is black, red, gray and its a work out to keep it clean. Edge Wraps thinks they can bring it up to date with a much more modern look. What do you think Wrap or not wrap. Painting seems out of the question....

No, don't wrap it, the 311s looks are classic, all boats are a lot of work to keep clean, you should see what I have to do to keep my all white 353 clean, but that's part of boating.
In the Spring before you put the boat in the water put a good coat of wax on it and it'll help keep the scum off it.

ridefast can we see some pics of your boat?

this is up to the owner really...some people like the classic look vs the new edgy looks. and vise versa.

some things to keep in mind...

vinyl doesnt last long. it will eventually fade and discolor no matter what anyone tells you. then it will look like crap and have to be replaced.

sometimes when a hull has pronounced color designs, the original colors will show thru the vinyl.

vinyl cannot be touched up if it gets scratched

discoloration from scum and algae is prevalent. vinyl is hard to clean because it is porous.

if the vinyl starts to peel i dont see any real good solutions...especially if it starts to bubble in the middle

im sure there are others..

just my 0.02...

Wet sand and work on the original! There are ways to bring it back, if its the finish you do not like. If it the actual graphics and color schemes that's a diff story.

Don't wrap. Anyone that knows boats will recognize it as a 311.....with a wrap. No good. A clean classic/older boat is much cooler than one that is covered up under a wrap, IMO.

Bring back the stock graphics as best you can and stay on top of it. To be honest, Formula Imron/Gel work is easier to keep looking nice than most other manufacturers.

I have the same colors on my 1988 357. I always trailer, but the rivers in our area always leave a scum line after a day on the water. I wipe it down after I pull it out while it's still wet. Dirt comes right off and I do keep it waxed. Of the 4 boats I've owned, the Formula has the best gel and paint, still looks like new.
Unless the Imron is faded beyond help, clean it up and keep it original. Love the looks of a nice SR-1. Just my opinion.

if you want to wrap a boat buy a active thunder, this is a formula dont wrap it, Ive seeen some ratty formula's over the years they always come back to life with some elbow greese, if the imron is to thin just shoot the imron, the gel will come back

Looks like 6 of one and half a dozen of another.

I have seen other boats wrapped that looked good but I have not seen a Formula wrapped yet.

That said you have to make yourself happy.

What about a better product for hull care, like Leverage? A high polymer wax should do wonders for appearance and clean up.

The boat has a lot of thin spots on the imrom. It will look good at 50 but thats not good enough.
